Great news on vans/trains/laptops/planes (?!) etc - sorry being silly.
Great stuff all round!
Just had some feedback on my chapter - woo hoo - whilst I've alot of revisions - at least I've got feedback
Sending much write up vibes and van sales being good. xTotal debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:
:money:Sleeves up folks.:money:0 -
Bleurgh, wrote a huge post and it's vanished! Pah!
makeup, I'm so pleased for you about your flat :j Sounds absolutely marvellous. Will you be moving house in a wheelbarrow?? (I once did - fortunately the house I moved to was *down* the hill :rotfl:) Good luck!
KC - did you really save £35 a month on your water bill?? (I do believe you, of course, just shocked!) Very impressed though, will keep it in mind. Have you got a post on your blog about it? We're in a house, but there's only 2 of us, and we don't do much washing
I'm spending the next couple of months getting our household bills in order - Mr Daffs looked at his bank statement the other day for the first time in ages, and there were 3 unidentifiable things going out each month! And he has no loans, no credit cards, or anything!
Thanks for the writing vibes Fay, will bat them right ack to youWell done on the feedback - shame about the revisions, but then it's never finished, is it??
Just had the most gorgeous leisurely bath6 hours (very disturbed) sleep, 7am train, 6 hours of powerpoint, 9 miles of cycling, 2 hours of work, 2 hours phding on the train :j and mostly eating biscuits and tea does NOT a happy relaxed Daffy make!
Pancakes for tea, however, with home grown rocket and peppers, and a nice long soak in the bath, DOES a nice happy relaxed Daffy make :j
Just over an hour left to go on the van, and still only one bidder! Have to keep reminding myself that we only need *one* person to buy it... :rotfl:
(I think actually because I'm a bit sad to see it go, I feel like more people should *want* it because it's so cheery... :rotfl:) Is that daft?? :rotfl:

Its okay :rotfl: I might have exaggerated by £1 - I think it was £44 something and I rounded it up to £45. Because I'm a single person in a 3 bed house, the reduction was always going to be quite dramatic. It went down to £15 straight away, and after about 6 months they lowered it again, to £9.90.
Thing is, I've always been careful with water - not letting things run etc. I do the "if its yellow, let it mellow" thing ... I have a water butt for watering pots - I hardly ever water the garden itself, tho I did water the plants at the front about 3 times in the hot spell, the soil is too shallow to keep them going for that long. I use showers, mostly, not baths. And I capture the water that you run to get to the hot water, and put that in a basin to flush the toilet.... or soak pans, or something. I'm quite weird, reallyor obsessive, anyway
I haven't done a post on the blog, yet, thats a good idea.
But very yikes to 3 unidentifiable thinigs on Mr Daffs' statement! Tell you one I noticed just before I signed up: the trainline do a 10% reduction if you sign up to something - but the signup is for a free trial, i.e. you get charged monthly after 30 days. Its a very cynical con, hidden in the small print. Nasty stuff.
And as you say, if you don't wash, you don't use the water:D:D

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE VAN????
I'm on tenterhooks here!!! Did you get what you wanted or was there a last minute crazy bidding auction and you're now millionaires????
I hope the new owner is as Cheery as you and Mr Daffs!I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills

Oops, sorry makeup, completely forgot to update! In fact, I must confess I got to 30 mins before the end of the auction and then went to bed I was just so exhausted! :rotfl:
So - no last minute bidding warIn fact, no more bids at all
But at least we got one, right?? No idea what happened to all the people who rang up in the week keen on taking it out of the auction! So it went for the starting price of £180, and we'll get £150 for refunding the road tax. Feeling a little daft for not accepting the £230 we were offered (without tax) by the bloke who rang up on the first day...
No idea if the person is cheery or not - rather ominously he hasn't been in touch yet... Ended at 10.30 last night, I emailed the invoice thing this morning (cash on collection, no postage obviously!), told him I was at work all day but in this evening, but no phone call, and no response to email. Am I about to be one of those people who puts 'no timewasters' in a car advert??? :rotfl: Is this why people remove bids from people who have no feedback??Or is he just busy and hasn't got round to ringing yet? Or does he go round buying lots of vans and ours isn't very important???
Can see I'll have to ring him first thing tomorrow to stop myself thinking about it! :rotfl: All very unsatisfying.
Mr Daffs, bless him, has emptied everything out of van (which we use as kind of musical mobile shed/camper :rotfl:), and searched in vain for V5 doc (fortunately I never said we had it!), and is now searching valiantly for new van.
In other news today - nearly got run over by a foolish man in a white van, suit and tie this morning who was more intent on eating breakfasts than looking out for other traffic  Then heard someone else on a bike get clipped by a car  (didn't fall off, did an awful lot of swearing, but otherwise seemed ok, just cross). Then when I was waiting for a bus there was a huge fight outside the pub over the road  Is it a full moon or something???
Other than that, had an absolutely lovely day at work :j And did a couple of hours PhD on the train, and another couple this evening, so all good :j
Tomorrow have to go to the hospital for blood tests before appointment on Friday, also should ring the dentist (blatantly need a couple of fillings, but been putting off ringing, I'm a bit rubbish with dentists...), and a good dose of PhD to put in :A best get to bed then!
(oh, moneysaving, that's what we're here for! :rotfl: Well, only spent 50p on the bus today, so that's not too bad, right?? :rotfl:)0 -
Pesky moneysaving, between the van and the bus! That sounds like a scary day you had all told, my word. Hope you manage to sleep after all that.
And "boooooooo" to fillings2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Thank you for the update!!
Well at least it is sold I supposed. Don't worry yourself over what could have been, you have got a fair price for it which is what you were after right?
Hopefully winner will get in touch soon.
I've had some good news today as I've finally exchanged on my flat and have a completion date of Friday :j:beer:
I have various ingenious plans to 'borrow' a trolley from Tesco to move with but everyone I speak to thinks this is a terrible idea and I should just hire a van / taxi etc.
But I refuse to pay big bucks when I am literally moving 300m down the road.I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills

They seem to think there is something wrong, possibly even "bag lady like" about pushing your worldly belongings up the Old Kent Road (yes folks, I'm moving onto the Monopoly Board) in a tesco trolley.
I think there is also the issue of having to lift the thing over the special metal things designed to stop you getting it out.
I on the other hand think this is a genius idea.....I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills
