I'd usually drive - but then I also generally say 'I'd rather get my own drinks, don't want to get too involved in rounds, you just don't know what happens when I'm drunk.. ;)' :rotfl: But this will be much cheaper to go on the train, and won't involve driving back over the snake pass in the middle of a Friday night on my own - which is always a good thing!

Although just had an email saying they've booked us into a restaurant for 9pm - so I'm cutting my 10.24 train a bit fine! :rotfl:

    Hi Cheery,
I think I've got the right person, did you post on MGs thread about how to set up a homepage? If so could you tell me again as that thread moves so fast I can't find it.
    Thanks

Er, I might have done - I'd just done it myself then! As far as I remember, go to User CP (control panel, on the green strip near the top of the page, underneath where it says 'be nice to all moneysavers'. Go to 'edit your details' on the left hand side, and there's a box to enter your homepage URL, so just bung in the address of your home page.

Thought I'd done it myself, however, but when I went to check, mine isn't in there! :rotfl: So try it, but if it doesn't work, I'd ask someone with more sense than me! :rotfl:

I know what you mean. I hate driving over the mountain roads here at night. Best to be safe. You are cutting it fine though, hope they bring the meal out quickly! Mind you, if they are slow you could just order the starter then say you have to leave, that would save money Only Joking!!

    Lucielle,
    Quick Links
Edit details ............. half way down the page is option for homepage url. Add your website in there and save. Then when people click on your name they can click on your homepage. Cheery thats where I find yours but it has disappeared now.

Right, that's it, I'm giving up even *trying* to write for today! :o Feels like I've achieved nothing at all! Pah! BUT, let's just have a little TADA moment, if you'll indulge me... :D Today I have...

    * tidied and swept living room, kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom, and put all the washing away
    * met with a friend for a cuppa, and been invited to a free swing (DANCING) night on Saturday - which I said yes to :D
    * planned and drafted a mini section of PhD chapter
    * renewed library books
    * ordered MG's book :j :j (although very stupidly forgot to PM my address! :o Somehow expected the poor woman to know it already! :rotfl: She's good, but probably not psychic... :rotfl: So I won't be getting that in the post tomorrow I expect! :rotfl:)
    * decided on going to Manchester tomorrow night and made necessary arrangements
    * did lots of twiddly online banking, and PAID OFF THE LAST OF THE MONEY I OWE TO MR DAFFS! :j :j :j :j (just remembered I haven't even mentioned it to him yet! :rotfl: Not that he'll mind either way, but still :rotfl:)
    * posted LETS subscription, knitting pattern to MissyMoo (sorry it's soooooo late, completely forgot at work yesterday!), and proof of no claims to car insurance folk

AND - just checked work emails (NOT that I would usually do such a thing at 9.30pm on a non-work night, or any other night for that matter, but I'm going to London next week and was just checking course timings because I'm staying with a friend and was ringing her up... blah blah excuses, blah!). Anyway, there was an email from boss, saying that I'd said I was interested in extra work, and could I let her know how many extra days I was up for, and from when (and a mini CV thing) :j :j :j

Soooooo excited, I LOVE working there, I really really love it :T :T And the prospect of a bit of extra work is fab! :T :T :T

Just need to decide now. I'd originally said nothing else til after PhD (so after Christmas). HOWEVER, talked to Mr Daffs and we reckon I can manage if I say one extra day a week as of now (taking me to 3 days a week), and then anything up to full time after Christmas, with the condition that I don't have to travel to York more than 3 days a week.

Difficulty is that I'm not entirely sure what's in the pipeline - this might be writing me into some kind of project that won't start for 6 months anyway, or it might be a couple of days a week for a temporary short term thing... In some ways it's good that I don't know, because I won't be tempted to please them by saying I can do something just because it suits them - but in other ways I wouldn't want to miss out...

So... going to be honest I think. An extra day a week now, and up to full time after Christmas (gosh, what a scary prospect!). And if there's the prospect of something specific starting imminently, let me know and I might be flexible rather than missing out :D

This is all a bit of a new departure for me - I always said I wasn't going to work full time :rotfl: Or at least not full time in one job - which technically this wouldn't be, as it would be more than one different project, with more than one different team, just within the same department :D So that doesn't count, right?? :rotfl:

MUST MUST MUST get bl**dy PhD done!! Absolutely MUST! BIG plan of attack tomorrow - up early and head down I reckon! (before I trot off to Manchester for a drinking binge, that is :rotfl:) Aarrrrgggghhhhh!

(and good grief, just think of the *money*  ) :rotfl:

Goodness, this all feels a bit serious! :rotfl: I know it isn't really - I think I'm just amazed that they think I'm cheery enough after only being there 4 months to ask me to do more things! :j :j :j

Oops, what a waffly post! Cherisong, is mine back again now?? I just entered it again and saved it, and it doesn't seem to be there for me?! Technology evidently isn't my forte either! :rotfl:

Nope, still cant see it. Are you doing it the way I posted for Lucielle because that worked for me. is mine there for you? Or have we been banned because we talk about clogs?

Cherisong, I've now done it twice the way I suggested (through the control panel - edit your details etc) and tried again through the quick links as you suggested - still not there! It obviously remembers I've done it though because it predicts what I'm going to write :rotfl: yours still works :)

Anyway, I am not in the slightest bit bothered about it being available on public release :D ONly adds to the pressure :D

Am up and dressed, snuffling like a hedgehog, and about to head off into the rain for a mini run round the block :D May not seem sensible, but I'll be out less than half an hour, most of it will be walking, and I'll feel calmer and like I've achieved something, and my shower will be ver nice!

Lots of PhD to do today. Panicking a little - which is partly why I'm off for a run to calm me down! Panicking does nobody any good... :o

Don't get chilled! But it does sound nice, actually, when you're coming back to a nice warm house.....

Back now, had a lovely romp in the rain :j :j I LOVE running in the rain, makes me go faster and feel fitter somehow :rotfl: All showered and breakfasted and ensconced with a cuppa at my little temporary desk now :T

Lots of things to do today, PhD related obviously, but a couple of mini errands too. Mr Daffs at home all day, in the kitchen working on songwriting stuff, and mate also at home all day, hopefully in the attic working on some stuff for work, course, and (hopefully!) finding another house... :D

I do feel all cosy here though, little table by the window, lots of rain outside, little lamp, and my background music cd playing... Best crack on really, I'll say it here -

I will have a draft of chapter 3 ready to print by the end of the day :D

Will take a fair bit of work, but it's doable!

(hmm, have foreseen an annoyance already - not for me though. We really are *not* set up to be a shared house here, Mr Daffs is doing a LOT of songwriting/editing etc at the minute, and ALL of his equipment is in the kitchen, which is where he works. Not usually a problem, as I have the attic to work in, with all my PhD stuff, and all my sewing etc. However, I now don't have the attic (but am in the bedroom instead) - mate has the attic, but doesn't *quite* seem to be grasping that Mr Daffs doesn't have anywhere else, so is up and down the bl**dy stairs every five minutes, just another cup of tea, just forgot to take this, just need to make a sandwich, another cup of tea...... Mr Daffs ain't going to be impressed if this continues - not if we're all going to be in all day!)

Anyway - they're grown men an can sort it out themselves :D I'm sure Mr Daffs will have no qualms telling mate to go away for a while! :D
