hmmmm starting to worry now as i am also studying to be a teacher..... doesn't sound too appealing now....0

Ooops, sorry, I dont want to put anybody off, he had lots of other things going on. BUT, he did go into teaching thinking, I love kids, I love designing and making things, what better way to earn a living. So I just wanted to say that he found it very hard going, and quite a lot of pressure. Mind you, he is an artist don't you know?:rotfl: Anyway, some people take to it like a duck to water don't they?
creeps out quickly with spade in hand. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, I will try again tomorrow -- Mary Anne Radmacher0 -
People have breakdowns in all kinds of professions Cherisong, don't you go worrying about digging holes! :rotfl:
Just hope that you lot all figure out what you want to do - or at least enjoy it along the wayRuby, the idea about teaching in colleges is a good one (although I must confess to knowing a couple of people who do that and hate it!
). We've got a local theatre that sometimes runs costume making courses - had completely forgotten about that - must get myself on one next year! :j :j :j
Felt much better after my lemsip thanks :T
Ruby, I don't spend all of my time playing with lemsips :rotfl: (actually, of course I don't - I meant felt tips :rotfl: and I don't spend all my time playing with those either :rotfl:). I'm actually a researcher in a university, and I'm working on a project that might just involve interviewing people who can't speak, so at the minute I'm doing lots of training courses around using various visual methods etc to get information out of people with some kind of cognitive or communication impairment (possibly both). All interesting stuff, and this afternoon had to do a bit of a mini demonstration to some others in the dept to get some feedback
Meant to say the other day... I'm trying to say Yes to a few more things lately(money permitting, of course! :rotfl:). Partly inspired by MG's thread, partly because I did always used to, and it wore off when I was trying to get this PhD finished because I had to FOCUS (oops, still not finished, must remember that!). Partly I picked up a book in the library about some bloke who said yes to everything (I'm not going that far  Not quite
)
Anyway, so today I said YES to reviewing some abstracts to a conference - something I've never done before, and is quite scaryAnd then I said yes to a rock'n'roll class, because, well, I LOVE dancing, always wanted to do rock'n'roll (I've done all kinds of other things but not this!), and because I was meant ot be going to Jive tomorrow but silly ex-ex-boyfriend wimped out on me to go somewhere else with someone more interesting, so I've got the money I was going to spend on that free...
Anyway, so I'm just getting changed, then I'll be off!VERY exciting, and a nice excuse to socialise with the lovely lady I work with :j However, Mr Daffs is off out in the car, so I've got to walk, about 45 mins downhill there, and an hour back up hill at the end  Ah well, could probably do with the exercise! :rotfl:
Back later :T xxx0 -
hope you enjoy your rock and roll class i bet it's a complete laugh.0
-
Fantastic, a rocknroll class! Is that jive, like in the 50s, or what? I want details!2023: the year I get to buy a car0
-
Actually, I didn't think much of it at all! Was rock'n'roll like I think of as being kind of jive (confusing, because I sometimes go to a jive class which is immensely enjoyable, but not what I think of as jive
). £5 for 45 mins (Jive is £6 for 7.30-11!), we started late and finished on time, so not much more than half an hour! Bright lights (Jive is dark and atmospheric), huge wall sized mirrors (Jive has a bar
), music kept getting turned off to teach us really basic stuff, hardly any chance to dance (Jive you dance all the time), had to stay with same partner (didn't realise this, and only by accident turned up with even number of people - Jive you all swap partners so can go on your own)...
Anyway, had a nice time, met a couple of new folk, but next week we'll be going to Jive instead :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
Morning! (or rather afternoon :rotfl:)
Payday todaySo lots of jiggling around of accounts - ooh, and I get to pay everyone off! Good grief! How have aI not managed to do that already this morning????? ? Best go and do it NOW, never mind waiting til later! :rotfl:
Not much achieved today  Didn't go to bed til 3.30 - up til 2 talking to Mate, then went to bed, but *thought* I felt something small fall on my head  so leapt back out of bed, and came to sleep on sofa, but then Calamity Jane was just starting :rotfl: then Mr Daffs came in so I woke up properly and had hot chocolateSo bit tired this morning! :rotfl:
But the sun's shining :j I'm sat on the sofa with my work surrounding me (can't get at new-new desk as Mr Daffs is napping). I'm meeting a friend at 2 who handed in her PhD yesterday - pah!So all mostly good.
Today's thought for the day (for me!) is:
Self control is remembering what you *really* want...So yes I'd quite like to spend the whole day messing about on MSE and in the garden, but what I *really* want is to get the PhD finished so I can do that all the time

:T :j
Hooray! :j
The last fees payment goes out next Monday
aarrgghh! I've done it AGAIN!!! All my working out and I just did the same thing I did last month, got completely carried away at the thought of paying off Mr Daffs and forgot about the fees payment!
<scurries off to work it out again>
Worked when I worked it out the other day! :eek:0 -
Phew, figured it out now
:rotfl:
It's because when I did all that working out the other day, the spare money to go to Aberystwyth etc came from the fact that I'm on various training courses and am therefore not travelling to work 3 days (which is £37.50), possibly four days (£50), and the extra payments from Amazon etc, which aren't in the bank yet.
Forgot to account for those today, and thought I'd left myself £60+ short
Should trust all my workings-out after all! :rotfl:
Anyway, let's get all excited again now - nothing more owing to Mr Daffs, and only one fees payment left, then all my wages are my own! :j :j Will feel positively RICH! :j :j (well, after I've saved up for Christmas holidays, of course, but how utterly gorgeous to be able to save up for christmas holidays!!! :T :T :T) SOOOOOOO exciting!
