I did ask Money Bookers Ltd but they said they couldn't as under their rules the transaction is irreversible

This is very strange. I had the same problem with elitesavings.co.uk (tried to buy an HTC Desire in June) and MoneyBookers refunded me the entire amount. I called them mid-September.

Just call them, they know about this scam and will refund your card in a few days.
  • Paperinik,
Thanks for that and I think I'll have to go to a higher authority! Moneybookers definitely gave me the brush-off but we ahven't given up yet.
    Thanks again.

Thank you for that info! And well done on getting your money back. I think I have no chance as it wasn't a credit card and it wasn't a VISA debit card. Moneybookers have already told me what they told you and our bank has said "nothing doing".
Unfortunately the site has disappeared and there seems to be no trace! Hard lesson to learn!
Just as a further comment and in reference to what Zammo76 said earlier, I have reported this to Watchdog and complained to Consumerline (a NI consumer rights organisation).

Good job, post here if you ever get a reply from them.

Also I found out this very interesting info after googling Paramveer Takher:

I havn't had a chance to read it all but it does include another address for him. And info about a web designer who set up a site for him so he could control the stock levels from his own PC and receive order notifications etc.

Edit: Christ I've just read it a bit more and this guy has been pulling similar scams to elite savings since 2005!!!!!

He must be absolutely loaded by now. What a scum bag...
  • Have now contacted the FSA, who regulate firms like Moneybookers Ltd.
I'll let you know if anything turns up!
  • Hi guys, posting back after a long time! Just totally peed off about this all. I've spoken to the bank and sent them a 'declaration form' or something or the other... anyway it's basically a form to fill out stating you have been scammed and they will see if they can file a case against elitesavings. I've also printed and sent off a copy of this thread to them. Let's see what happens, moneybookers did not help me at all! They refused in fact :(
  • This should be my last posting as, thankfully, the Financial Ombudsman has intervened after I wrote to them. This was following a referral from the FSA (who could not do anything anyway).
The financial ombudsman contacted Moneybookers about my case and they then contacted me to organise a full refund - so I am absolutely delighted! Don't forget Moneybookers had already told me they could do nothing.

So the message is, don't give up!

Bye for now and thanks for the messages and support! :j:j:beer: :T
  • just one of a set of scams from this address: 2 Woodberry Grove London N12 0DR.

they've now got 'Silvas Land Agents' to their name. steer well clear. if you're interested, go onto google streetview to have a look at their 'business premises' - just for a laugh!

  • The address used by Elite Savings has cropped up again. This time a firm registered at the address has got some fantastic publicity by saying how lazy jobseekers are.

    Telegraph
    Mail
    Sun
    and more critically The Mirror

try searching for car smart or seven workshy job claimants

The firm sells advertising for car sales via hard sell cold calling to dealers and private advertisers (an area long favoured by scammers). This time they big up their twitter and facebook stuff too!

The nice people advertised a job at the jobcentre for £6.08 an hour got some applicants that they then sent a sales script to, details of their hours of work and breaks but said that they would be self employed so not to get the minimum wage advertised but instead £2.08 an hour in advanced commission as a "retainer".

When the lied to jobseekers did not show up the company used their no show to get huge amounts of publicity for their site.

They are breaking the minimum wage legislation but given the form of web based sites from this address please don't bother to pay them to advertise your car and if you are a car dealer don't waste your time taking their calls.
