ooooooohhhh i like it!!!!! I want one. How does it work exactly? Do you move the butterfly and change the numbers yourself or do you just slide the butterfly and it automatically changes the amount for you? x x

I haven't posted here in ages... A lot seems to have happened but I'll try and keep it short.

Most important I guess is losing my nan in early September less than a month after Jazz. I was very close to her, but she was 83 so at least she had her time. Both of my parents were there holding her hands when she went, and I got to say goodbye to her properly earlier that day, so I've taken a lot of comfort from that. I know it was 6 weeks ago, but it still doesn't feel real that she's gone, and I keep having dreams about her.

As if that wasn't enough OH's lost his nan the day before my nan's funeral. It was quite hard having to go to hers so soon after my nans as they were both held in the same place.

    Anyway, in better news...

I've got a permanent job now. My official start date is Nov 1st, and I'm getting £500 extra in my first lot of pay which will be on the 15th. That's before tax, but it's still better than nothing. I'll also get any holiday that I haven't used from my temp contract paid to me. I'm not sure how many days I have left as I had a week off at the beginning of the month, but I know at the very least it will be two which equates to at least £100 extra which I'll get on the 5th of next month. I think it might be a bit more though...

I also seem to have paid nearly £2,500 off of the loan since I last posted here a couple of months ago, though to be honest I'm not sure how?!? I'm hoping to have it paid off by christmas, but being an expensive time of year I'm not sure if that will happen or not.

I cannot wait to be out of debt. I was thinking last night how much I've cleared. All in all it will be about 19k since graduating which is a bit shocking when you think about it. I've been in debt since starting uni in 2005 so it will be nice to finally not see a minus figure in the bank.

Anyway, I'll leave it there for now...

I'm a bit moapey this evening (not sure if that's even a word, probably not). I've managed to get the loan down to £1832 which is good, but I'm constantly thinking that I'm getting on a bit...

I know it's ridiculous for a 24 year old to think that, but at the moment I'm still in debt (well, my dads anyway) and have no choice but to live with my dad. I'm not in an especially good job, it doesn't pay that well, and I don't enjoy it that much. At the moment I'm just seeing the future as a huge struggle. OH is paid double what I am and doesn't mind paying for me to go out and things, but I hate the fact that he has to do it. I'm really frustrated as I am (allegedly) a bright person, but I feel that I'm never going to have a job which reflects my ability.

Since I lost my nan I've been thinking about things more. To be honest being the eldest of four had put me off of ever having kids, but I think a combination of seeing loads when she was in hospital, and something about losing her has made me a bit warmer towards the idea. I haven't told OH this as he would be ecstatic at the idea and want me to have one tomorrow, but in reality there isn't room in the house for another person, and I'd like to have my own house and be settled before anything major like that happens.

Getting a house really isn't one of OH's priorities despite being 28. It's frustrating when he's the bigger earner of the two of us - things would feel like a lot less of an uphill struggle if he wanted his own house too. I'm not really sure what he thinks is going to happen in the future. He's 28 and technically lives with his parents, but spends every night at my house. He gives £100 to his parents and £100 to my dad in rent as his time is split between the two houses which is minimal compared to his earnings. I might tell him if we buy a house we can have a baby :rotfl:. Seriously though, I think I should have a talk with him. I think in his head he still thinks he's 21 and he can deal with everything later...

Argh! I wrote a post and lost it...

Right, her we go again... I'll summarise...

Loan is now down to £1600 since last post, getting paid on Monday so should be able to knock some more off of it as long as the transition to permanant has gone okay pay wise... That will be about £750 before tax so should be able to pay off a reasonable loan chunk.

Everyone was told on Tuesday that I'll be team leader as of 1st Dec. Scary! I'm sure I can do it though, and hopefully I'll get a pay rise in time, fingers crossed anyway.

Have sold a pair of earrings which has made me £9.50 (need to make them tonight), and did a pc survey too. I have £4 in paypal from one last week so will withdraw the £8 when I'm paid for the last one and take it off of the loan.

I'll be able to get rid of my overdraft and actually have savings soon!!!

Not a lot to report, have been going through my vouchers and things though...

I got the £8 from the surveys so have rounded that to £10 and paid it off of the loan today. I also received £4 is M&S vouchers from the CC yesterday. At current count I have another £14.50 which I'll receive when the next lot of vouchers are sent out. As they're valid til 2012 I'm thinking of saving them for next christmas as I nearly have £20 already and my mum gets 20% discount so that will bump up their value a bit too.

I've also got just under £15 in clubcard vouchers, I'm thinking of doubling them up to spend on shower gel etc so I can stock up on something I'll actually need to buy throughout the year otherwise...

Oh, and I also joined the gym yesterday...eek. My clothes are starting to get tight beyond wearable now. It's only £20 a month, so provided I push myself to go it will save me money in the long run as I won't need to buy a whole load of new clothes...

    Hi Nikki,

Sorry to hear about your gran, she was a good age though, hope you're ok.

I cannot believe how well you've done with that loan over this year, you've hammered it, you should be so proud of yourself.

Thanks Yukki :). I'm okay but do still miss my nan sometimes. The worst thing is when I see flowers and things in shops that I'd have bought her, think that I'll do it then realise there isn't anyone to buy them for! I think I've got a memory problem lol.

Anyway, good news... Loan is almost no more.... I've 'paid off' £1000 today. I've actually put it into my ISA so that I can make interest on it til the 0% expires on the card which is around May time. I figured I may as well make a little bit extra as I can. I probably won't get rid of my overdraft til it's nearly due either as again I may as well take advantage of it being 0%.

All in all everything is good, hopefully I'll be able to start saving for a house soon... Yay :). I've left myself with about £300 to live on for the month but am going to make an effort to spend less - mainly by not going out at the weekend. I'm always fine during the week, but the weekends seem to get me. It's either town during the day or expensive nights out. No more!
