Lovely to hear from you, Mrs MW. I'm glad the treatment is not quite as bad as you expected but, as you say, it must be pretty awful. At least it's underway, which is a good thing. Don't worry about posting regularly - just pop in when you can. You've done really well with the fingerless gloves and it's a great way to raise postage money. I wish you well with the rest of the treatment. Please take good care of yourself.

Jean - how can you be so productive! The dresses look gorgeous. I've managed another two preemie hats, so that's four in all. I'll see how many I get done by tomorrow before I add them to my totals.

Shaz - like Kinsey, I'm wondering how you are? Edited to say, Shaz, I've just read your post and I'm so sorry that things are so bad for you. Don't let him come home tonight if you are frightened. I just wish you could get some proper constructive help with the situation; you shouldn't have to live in fear. Thinking of you and hoping things work out.

Well, off to see if I can sit down for a couple of hours without dozing off on the sofa.

Hope you are all having a good evening.

  • Shaz, if you feel at all unsafe or intimidated - hard as it may seem leave him in the care of the local police, you're safety is what is paramount. I know it won't be easy to decide to do that but you must for the sake of you and Daniel. Get a report from them and come Monday start in with the local "services", this can't continue there must be some solution to the problem, so keep fighting for an answer that suits your family. Let us know how the loom teddies work out ...sound intriguing as you say if it works you can always go for the next size up and work on hats!.

Shaz thought things must be difficult. Would ss actually DO something if you said you were not going to have him back? I know it's drastic but you can't carry on being scared in your own home. ((((hugs))))

Mrs MW nice to 'see' you, hope next week goes ok.
  • I feel like I'm interrupting a really important conversation....sorry, can I ask a quick question please?
I have two warm woolly hats here, made for the Shoebox appeal but they didn't get put into any of the Shoeboxes. Does anyone know where I could send them please? One would fit an 8-12 yrs old and the other would fit an older teenager or small adult.
I'm trying to use up my stash of unwanted yarns by knitting for charity this year, so I may be lurking on this thread quite a bit.

busy week here...had 10 hours driving yesterday and hip is agony...loooong day and diet went out the window but have lost 10ibs to date but a disaster yesterday! Must plan better on the return trip on Weds!! Had a lovely mememe day today - saw my friend in knitting shop (took this years group rota in at last seakay!) then went to town, shopped and had my hair cut. Returned home to discover dragon escaped and feared eaten by smug cat sitting in his viv...thankfully discovered him hiding so hes had a bath and now basking. Decided he is to be adopted by a friend as just cant trust the cat around him and think shes sussed how to open the glass...ill still get to see him and he will be adored! Since then dyed my hair and done my nails! Tomorrow is church and then cinema in the afternoon (true decadence!)! yum! Finally got a row done of the blanket and will do a bit more now! Want it finished and deciding what charity thing to do next...possibly cat blanket and also need to start knitting for friends baby due feb/mch...
love the dressed roaming!! Talented bunny you are! hope people are ok....sure we will all feel better when Jan gone! Im really chuffed as now off happy tabs and back to my normal pmt ones so feels like a huge sucess and one of the last evidences to the horrendous 2010!

    Hi Batoutofhell

Please feel free to call in at any time and ask any questions you want; you're more than welcome. Here's a link to a lovely group called Loving Hands http://www.lovinghands.org.uk/ They will happily take your hats. They collect knitted, crocheted and sewn items to distribute to various charities all around the world. They have several challenges on the go at any one time so anything else you make will be put to very good use. To find out what we do, take a look at page 95 of this thread, post 1885 - it describes what we do.

You will find a warm welcome here; I do hope you stay with us.

Hi, from a very bleary eyed Nanny today.........I had 3  spritzers last night at the party, a great time was had by all. DS1/DIL and DGD's came up as well and stayed the night with us,they have gone back home now though
DIL2 had decided to do a buffet rather than a seated party and what a good idea that was, the children loved being able to serve themselves (with a little help);) they had a nibble of everything, tiny pasties, sausage rolls, little tomatoes, all the usual bits and pieces we had little granary bread rolls and they were making them up with whatever they wanted, chicken, ham, beef and the old standby cheese.
Also did a real 70's thing cheese and pineapple on sticks which were a huge sucess they ate the lot :D and sausages on sticks too.
DIL had a VW Camper cake made for DS2 with a 40 sparkler candle, and DGS had a Winnie the Pooh with a 3 sparkler candle, he was so excited

kinsey - thanks, as you can see from above we had a great time
Jean - crikey you've certainly been whizzing along with that new machine, the dresses are great well done. O BTW your share of the cake was yummy it was the foot :rotfl:
kathy - Hug delivered, awww he is so cute and was jumping around all day and still going when we left at 9:30pm, :j
MrsMW - I am glad the chemo was'nt quite as bad as expected but not nice though, don't worry just pop in when you feel strong enough :)
ISOM - well done with the weight loss and for coming off the happy pills, what a great start to the year :T
 BatOutOfhell hello and welcome to you I hope you will keep popping in for a chat,
shaz - have just read your post, how are things today?

Needlesss to say no knitting got done here yesterday, but plans for today are....feet up,TV on and veg out on the sofa with my knitting or crochet of course.

Hi Batoutofhell, you`re not interrupting at all. Pull up a comfy chair get your knitting out, don`t be shy join in. I often think that lurkers and newbies might be put off a bit because of our chattiness, not always to do with knitting but this thread feels more like a `knit and natter` group where everyone takes an interest in each others lives, whether it`s sharing happy / sad times, having a rant to let off steam or whatever.

At the heart of it all though, we are a group of like minded individuals sharing a common interest, crafting in whichever way to benefit people less fortunate than ourselves.
We all have stashes to try to use up but as you`ve probably read, wool seems to attract more wool, and we are all so soft hearted that we have to rescue it from various places from time to time;).

Well, I`m going to try to keep up with the updating this year so to start with........

    Update

    3 hats
    2 oxfam jumpers
    1 T-top
    1 scarf
    2 baby cardies

Special thoughts for MrsMW and sockknitter ((hugs))

Jean, your machine must be red hot now.

Hope everyone has a good day, might be back later, off to do some more decluttering now.
