Apologies if this has been explained (I did do a search on the thread for loom) but what is loom knitting? Is it like a giant version of knitting Nancy/French knitting?
I loved the hat but coulldn't find out more about how to do it.
Seakay you`re quite right.

STOP IT KATHY, I am bright red with your praise and I certainly don't need it.
SEAKAY This link to LH and the recent discussions on loom knitting......being the cheapskate that I am I am looking for to make one for myself with nails and a block of wood - not sure it will work out tho but willing to have a go - I love a challenge!
http://lovinghands.freeforums.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4026
I have to say I am tempted but have already got more on my list that I will ever get around to doing...so if you have a go I will admire your work and look on enviously.
Kathy again....had a look at MSE no chance of both links tho' will see if I can come up with another solution and let you know.
Have a great weekend folks, back soon.

Hi all - thanks again for your kind comments on the hat
psso - yes its very easy (hence why im doing it :rotfl:) - it says you can make a hat in about 3/4 hour baby/childs - I do tend to pick up and put down a lot though so my adult one probably took me about 1.5 hours in all ????? - yes it does grow quite quickly
It makes a change from the two needle knitting and uses up surplus stash - as im counting the "grammes" down on LH to bust my stash I weighed the finished article and it was 45g chunky
seakay - I first saw briefly the looms on Create and Craft but they want an astonishing amount of money - I brought my from ebay (set of four)- also look under Knifty Knitter - I think provocraft are another firm who make them (its very big in america) - round looms or oblong and its not just for hats you can do socks, bags, scarves and flat knitting on it (by not going all the way round the circular) - there are more stitches to learn so that you get different stitches am yet to try those just doing the basic really.
Hope this helps - better get tea - visit was lovely and had a really lovely chat and some lunch - Nan has not been at all well over christmas (at nearly 90 I think the cold bug took its toll) and is just starting to pick up - it was a bit worrying for us then because we thought the inevitable was going to happen but she is a little fighter so we thank someone upstairs for her bouncing back so to speak
Have a good evening - love to all J xx
PS You are just toooooo good roamin - making your own - I spend money I should have got FIL to make one from wood for meDebt Diary: Im not going to be an Ostrich anymore -LBM - 16/1/12 /0 -
Jean - thanks for the links to the toy patterns. I can view them without logging on BUT I think I have - with your help - solved the logging in problem. I will give it another go tomorrow to make sure it's not a fluke! If I can't have two links to blogs on MSE, people will probably have to go into my blog profile and find the new one there, then bookmark it for the future, so that they won't have to access it through my blog each time IYSWIM! By the way, you deserve the praise - you've sorted out lots of techie problems for me AND given us lovely spreadsheets, so take another bow and another gold star and a pat on the back!
f1 - glad the visit went well! The hat is lovely and you have really started something with the loom knitting. I have some small flower looms but I think I will take a look on eBay to see what's available there.
Well, I'm just about to open a bottle of Vino Collapsio so 'cheers', everyone, and have a great evening!

roamin' what a great name for the dresses, and it sounds like you've got a conveyer belt going. Also a spread sheet, that was in your spare time I suppose? You definately deserve a box of malteasers at least.
Pippa have a lovely time at the party, they sound like a very happy family.
f1 nice to hear Nan has picked up, bet she has some lovely tales to tell at that age, I know my Mum did and I should really have written things down, before they're forgotten.
Shaz you haven't been around lately, hope you're ok?
Thinking of you Mrs MW.
Lots of love to everyone xxx0 -

Hi everyone, sorry it's taken me so long to get round to posting. I have just finished my first cycle of Chemotherapy and although it isn't as bad as I expected, it's still pretty awful. The worst part is I can't keep awake and while it sounds lovely to be able to lie in bed all day, it's not what I want to do. Next lot of treatment on Tuesday.
I haven't got much knitting done lately but DH has got a box and is busy packing all the hats to send to Lou. He's brilliant at helping but he can't knit.
I gave my heighbour some fingerless gloves at Christmas and all her friends asked for some so I charged them £2 a pair and will use the money for the postage to Lou.
Sorry I can't manage anymore but want to send love and well wishes to everyone and thank you so much for thinking of me. It really helps.

Well done Mrs MW, that's a major hurdle over for the time being. Don't worry about not posting loads and loads...just as long as we see you occasionally that's fine by all of us, concentrate on being well and having good days that's what is important. Having the night off so I am hopefull that there might be something half decent on the telly. Back tomorrow then

joshua is in police custody as we speak, but this time i am unsure as to whether i want him back home tonight. i dont feel safe around him, and once daniel is back at school, i'll have no one to ring the police whilst josh is hitting me.
scared to be in my own home most of time, and unsure what to do for the best.
