Welcome to you, Frugalbrunette! I hope you enjoy it here! If you look on page 95 of this thread, post number 1885, you will find a description of what we do, with links and so on. As Elaine (PSSO) has said in her lovely post, please feel free to ask any questions at all, and there will always be someone along who can help!

Elaine - I'm so glad the car passed its MOT. That is always a worrying time of year (or every two years, as it is here!).

Jean - hope you are having a good day today - no mishaps, breakages, spills, and so on!

I had a lovely text from Chalky last night (although it would have been morning where she is!). She's having a wonderful time (you can see photos on FB), but she says the internet is slow there. She sends her love to you all! I think she's still in New Zealand on her way to Australia so I think she and her DH are enjoying a once-in-a-lifetime trip. I can't wait to see what she puts on her blog when she gets back!

BIL is still doing well and eating like the proverbial horse - always a good sign with him because he loves his food and, having lost at least 4 stone due to the illness, he needs to put on some weight to help him when he has the chemo. He's feeling very positive; in fact, my sister is worrying about things more than he is. He's always been positive so I'm sure this is helping them both.

The weather here is lovely now but we woke up to a hard frost first thing. The sun is shining and the sky is blue so I'm hoping that will last for a few days. I've been putting food and seed balls out for the birds during the cold weather, and I have a wonderful collection of blue and great tits - I think there's ten breeding pairs now. As the food is hanging up just outside my conservatory window, we get the most amazing close-up views of them which is so rewarding, and they have no idea we are watching them! They are so cute; I can never understand how they can eat hanging upside down from something that is spinning around!

DH is out today fixing some tiles on a roof for someone, so I have the house to myself. After a hectic few days, I'm really enjoying the peace and quiet, and the fact that the house stays tidy!

OUr friends from the farm came round for lunch yesterday, which was lovely because it's very rare for them both to be able to leave the animals. They must have timed it right, and fed them all before they came over. They brought with them some lovely fresh eggs, too, so I shall be baking tomorrow to make the most of them!

Well, talking of baking is making me hungry so I will go and rummage up something for lunch. I'm hoping that I may even get some time sat down this afternoon to do some crochet!

I hope you are all having a great day.

salome - awww teddy is really cute well done to your DD
happycrafter - hope the anti B's kick in soon and you start to feel better :)
psso - you must be soooo strong to resist buying wool. Its always a relief when the MOT is over with is'nt it?
kinsey - sorry to hear about your dog, poor Oscar missing his pal. Glad you managed to see the Grandchildren, they always brighten the days dont they :D
jean - hope things are going better for you today

Went to my friends last night and had a 1 or maybe 2 ;)glasses of vino, and good old chin-wag, and of course I took my knitting.
I have started a prem baby cardi for Mums, friends new great grand-daughter. They called in to see her on Sunday so she could have a cuddle, which she loved.

Better go get something done or I will be on here all day.

Well calm has been restored......thank goodness for that. After the trials of the past couple of days seems I am back to my usual self. Someone on Loving Hands was looking for a preemie cross over cardi, I found the one below on Ravelry here
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/brassiere-2

PREEMIE GARTER STITCH CROSS OVER CARDIGAN – translation from French

Tension 26 stitches and 36 rows – 10 cm
Size 3mm needles
First size for 1 kilo baby (size in brackets 3.5 kilo baby)
4 ply wool

Cast on 44 (48) stitches and knit in garter stitch until the work measures 8 (10)cm 44 (48) sts

Cast on 25 (28) stitches at the beginning of the next two rows for the sleeves. 94 (104) sts
Knit until work measures 14 cm (16 cm).

Cast off for neck edge……
Knit 27 (29) stitches and place these stitches on a stitch holder (these stitches will be the second front)
Cast off the next 16 (18) stitches for neck then knit to the end of the row. 51 (57) sts

Now knit the first front…..

**Knit 4 rows (6 rows) in garter stitch then increase 1 stitch on the neck edge every 4th row, 3 times
(4 times if you are knitting the larger size). 54 (61) sts

Continue to increase 1 stitch at neck edge on every 2nd row, 19times. 73 (80) sts
NOTE- when the sleeve measures 12 cms cast off 25 (28) stitches 48 (52) sts

Continue knitting front till it measures 8cm (10cm) from the cast off sleeve edge.
Cast off loosely.

Rejoin yarn to 27 (29) sts left on stitch holder and complete as for first front from ** to knit the second front.

Sew side and sleeve seams and affix suitable fastenings.

Auntie D on Loving Hands took my translation from French and made it read PROPER PATTERN! Yippeee........

• Oh meant to say welcome to Frugalbrunette, also Anne hope there were NO maltesers hurt during the drinking session! F1 can your DH just pop over and have a lookie see at my camper it sounds decidedly dodgey at present. Psso glad it wasn't an OUCH THAT SMARTS moment with the MOT. I am still searching for the elusive easy to do frock pattern. Here is this mornings efforts.......and remember the nearest I ever got to a little girl was my sister!............I was the tomboy.

dsc00964x.jpg

the cream/beige one is 17" top to bottom the lilac ensemble is 25" top to bottom........hope they will fit somebody not a clue what age group tho', so if anybody out there can shed some light on that one I would be a very happy bunny.....OFF to see if I can cobble up some more frocks. Cuddles to you all.
Oh glad you heard from Chalky, Kathy sounds like she is having a wonderful hols. I ADMIT I DON'T DO CROCHET - well not often as I am rubbish at it but I intend taking hook and wool to the Knitting show in Perth in May - somebody will be there to show me how to turn it on and make it work.

• thank you it was for me I was struggling trying to find one :)

not had a chance to get back on to loving hands yet OH took me out for a quick drink (my first since before Christmas and being ill), Cough seems to be getting better except for leaving/entering cold/warm rooms that seems to set me off again.

Friend at work has a large bag of buttons for me of different sizes so hoping to do some knitting this weekend (though do have a trip to hobbycraft planned saturday which involves me running round like a child in a sweet shop, while OH follows with a basket)
• I have 2 skills I wish to learn this year one is crochet and the other is tatting, my mum is learning how to do tatting and promised to show me afterwards :)
• got the pattern I will be using NOW.....start to finish including making the bias binding one hour, so I will get a lot quicker when I make myself a production line.....
