Funny how you get days that are carp from the time you get up isn`t it? well it`s not funny but you know what I mean !!
Have an early night Roamin and things might be better tomorrow.
Kathy, so pleased things are looking up for Bil, long may it continue.
Off to bed with a book I found today. Bought it ages ago and never got around to reading it. Must remember to go to the library tomorrow as well or I`ll have to pay a fine.
See you tomorrow.

Happycrafter - I hope you are feeling better today. If the cough hangs around for more than a few days, it might be worth a trip to the doctors in case you have a chest infection.
Thank you, I did go to the Drs on Friday and though my chest was clear he gave me antibiotics as my throat and ears started to become infected again, he said I probably was getting over one infection and picked up another! I had been coughing for 5 weeks so hopefully cough will get better and I can get on with knitting :jhad a good sort out on Sundaythrough all my craft bits and pieces and it looks so neat and tidy not sure how long it will last though :rotfl:.0 -
HI everyone - thanks for all your kind comments about my BIL. The whole family is feeling much brighter. We know he has a long way to go and that things may not work out, but it's lovely to have a bit of hope, and the positive feeling can only do him good.
Happycrafter - hope the antibiotics work and help to get rid of that cough.
Salome - that teddy is absolutely stunning! Your DD is very talented with her knitting and she's given him a real personality, too!
Jean - hope today is better for you than yesterday, and for you, too, Elaine!
Maytaurus and MrsMW - thinking about you both.
I am crocheting a little cardi for my next grandchild, alongside some more preemie hats because I have lots of oddments of pastel colours to use up. I think I will make some preemie booties, as well. Of course, I have to deplete my enormous stash of wool so that I can justify a good spend-up at my favourite wool shop when we come back to the UK in March!
Wow, the sun is shining and the sky is blue, and we have good friends coming over for lunch - the people who run the now-famous farm up the road - so this will be a good morning, I think!

Hi all, hope you are all well. Bright and sunny here now although it was frosty to start with.
Had the MOT done this morning - not too bad though. A couple of `advisory` things, ie. not vital at the moment but get seen to soon, so I`ll be able to spread the cost a wee bit and not have a huge bill all at once, phew.
Almost finished a `sun top` for LH so, as DD has decided she needs to go and look for a new outfit for her works `Christmas do` on Saturday and we`ll be going to the next town to see what`s on offer there, I`ll be popping into the wool shop there as I need a couple of fancy/pretty buttons for the straps.
Back later.

Well I fared no better today.......managed to knock a cuppa off the table in the sweatshop....it went everywhere....then moping that up managed to hit the iron off the ironing board.........honestly lesser mortals would have given in BUT I DIDN'T. I have been desperate to get to the new sewing machine (birthday pressie to ME from ME) so kept cool and continued as best as I could, well what a right carry on. It's just so different in operation and off course I didn't manage to concentrate and read ALL the instructions. It took me about 2 hours to work out how to get two button holes done, at this rate I will never get off the ground with the summer frocks for Loving Hands. They haven't asked for them but I felt I would get ahead and make a start I have drawn up four patterns and will make samples of each to see which makes up quickest, easiest and uses least amount of fabric but still looks good IYKWIM. Never having had a girlie this is all new territory to me but at least I am out of the chair and left the book sitting by the side. I can only hope that I get the impetus to get on and do some serious knitting within the next few days too. Love and cuddles to you all, will be back tomorrow.

Morning all - first again ooooo - well its a frosty start here
roamin - oh honey you are not normally this stressed Ive always thought of you as one of our laid back members - I do sympathise with you its horrible when the day just does not go right - hopefully after a good sleep today will be better for you - as for sewing machines my MIL brought me a "mini" one last christmas (no not the one just gone one before that!) and its still in the box - another job on my never ending list of things im going to try - take care xxxx
psso - glad the car passed - nothing worse than a long huge bill especially at this time of year - the strange thing is DH always seems to get car tax and mot at same time of year and as I do bills (badly!) he never reminds me until a week before I need to come up with the money  luckily DH knows about cars so can do any jobs needed himself which does cut down the bill a bit xxxx
happycrafter - hope you are feeling better soon xxx
Well another day - Im not getting very far with my list of jobs to do - eeek! will see if i fair any better today - hope all have a good day
love to all especially those low MIA or poorlie (have not seen sock-knitter for a few days - are you ok???)
oh and forgot to say Maytaurus I dont just look like that on a Monday morning I look like that all day every day :rotfl:xxxDebt Diary: Im not going to be an Ostrich anymore -LBM - 16/1/12 /0 -
hello everyone
I've been reading up on the thread and it really touched me, I would like to give my work to charity.
I'm relatively new to crochet with limited wool stocks but as my skills are growing I'm becoming quite addicted. I'm going to look for something relatively easy to start with but it will be good for my soul to give.

 Morning all and hello to you frugalbrunette, welcome to the merry band.
Doesn`t matter how new you are to crochet or knitting - we all had to start somewhere. Some of us can hardly tell which end of a crochet hook is the `business ` end (ahem, that`ll be me then and one or two others who will quite freely admit to being less than proficient in that department) and as for limited wool stocks.......well it`s funny how wool attracts wool. Just seems to jump off shelves and demands to be rescued. Once you`ve been bitten by the woolly bug there`s very little chance of escape.
Easy things would be squares which could be stitched together to make blankets, ponchos,or lots of other things which I can`t think of right at this minute (numb brain), little preemie hats, scarves, in fact anything you want to try. It`s nice to be able to use our talents to help others who are less fortunate isn`t it ? I enjoy knitting as I can`t just sit doing nothing, hands have to be busy, and doing things for different charities gives me a purpose in life.
If you have any problems just shout and one of our lovely chums will try to help - won`t be me if it`s crochet tho`.
Guess what, I managed to go into the wool shop yesterday and only bought 6 buttons - yep that`s right, no wool needed rescuing.:D Was a bit disappointed with the lack of choice which is why I didn`t buy much. Think I`ll be having a browse online.
I`m going to try to be good and avoid buying any more wool until I go to the knitting show in Perth later this year. That will give me time to reduce my stash a bit to make room for some more - well that`s the plan anyway but you know what they say - the best laid plans etc....
Decided to start saving £2 coins especially for the wool fund - might take a while I thought, as I rarely get them - blow me I`ve got six already !!!! and that`s just in a week. That might be all I`ll get though :rotfl:.
Off to put some mince on to cook, chilli for tonight I think.
Have a good day everyone, hugs for those who need them whether you are poorly or down in the dumps or just having a downright carp day (Jean ??)
