    That's great, Elaine!

Just wondering if you'd all noticed the banner at the top of the page? If you click onto the date, it says that the forum will be down for EIGHT hours tomorrow!! I'll just have to do some housew**k, I suppose! That's a long time, isn't it?

    KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

    Squares: 11, Animal blankets: 2
  • I am knitting squares...........thought it was about time! I did some wee crochet ones last year using up scraps of wool but made the decision that the knit your square thread was going to have just that from me ...well till I find something else to take my fancy.
YOU ALL NEED TO CLEAR YOUR 2010 TOTALS by the way.....otherwise you make us all look like slackers!
Sock Knitter - you have a lovely fella to look forward to (not long now) I know you will be cautious and take it easy, play it cool, so just get back on track eh?
PSSO - love the cartoon, my stash is confined to only three areas of the place, the sweatshop has a trunk full of wool (as well as some 18 huge plastic storage boxes full of material), the office/computer/spare room has all the coned wool for the knitting machines and the lounge/dining room (between them) both have a basket of "current hand knitting/crochet" so I don't think I need bother with any kind of clear up - not just yet, anyway if I don't make inroads in the barn and the lofts I have no room to move any of the other non important stuff (couches, TV, tables etc - you get the gist) out of my way! Have friends arriving towards the end of February so far too early for me to make a start it would all be chaos again prior to their arrival! I did notice the shut down tomorrow, so am hoping that I can get a few more squares knitted for declaring on Sunday, but you just never know - some hunk might turn up and want to take me out - yeah DREAM ON!

Blimey - that`s a verrrrrrrry loooooooooooong time to have to do housew*rk _pale_

Could we maybe just do a wee bit in the morning and then play solitaire on the `puter so that we don`t get withdrawal symptoms in our fingers ? We can also have a looKsy on LH for a while ..........then maybe trawl through the patterns.............then maybe have a cuppa and look through some MORE patterns and see if any online stores have wooly bargains - oh and maybe do some knitting or crochet - you get my drift ?????

What make you think procrastination is my middle name :rotfl:

Don`t know if I`ll be up and about before the forum goes down but in case I`m not, have a great day everybody and see you in the evening maybe. Off to stitch up little J`s cardie, oh i might have to go shopping tomorrow for buttons, dear me, not the dratted wool shop again. ;)

  • Why proscratinate now when you can do it later?

I really want to do some prem baby knitting but I have an awful chesty cough and won't knit baby stuff while I am ill. So I am going to have a sort through some patterns and get my self organised some how..
  • evening all!
Now F1 dont you go worrying! I know youre all used to me sitting on my bum while I was "resting" (for a whole b**** year!) but Im more used to doing things and being of use, and much prefer it! Will always be poopied at the mo but thats cos Im effectievly carrying a small child in extra weight! So none of this worrying please! I like being useful!
Sommat to make you chucckle! i wanted to collect milk bottle tops, having heard that you can get £25 a batch. Fab thinks me - raise it for our homeless/care leaving youngsters. Put proposal to my collegues who all agree that this is a good idea. Send out on weekly email (thousands of recipients!) and set up account. at which point I thought Id better ask how many bags we have to collect for our 25 and get to somewhere down south (only 1 co in England do them now!) ...lots of numbers come back...email returned saying how many black bags - all those numbers mean nowt..well. Girls. Its 100 black bin liners for our £25!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! oh we laughed but I will not be defeated! I stand strong in my conviction that we can do this...only thing is where the heck do you store the flipping bags while the amount is collected?!! Feel free to start colleecting btw!! thought that might make you chucccle!
Kinsey so sorry to hear about your dog...its like loosing a family member and am sure its bought back memories of your mum dying as well so massive hugs for you!
happycrafter hate to tell you but stash reognaistion may well become a part time hobby lol!
hugs to people feeling a bit naff, lurking and feeling poorly...
wonder how chalky is getting on! Cant remember her real name so cant look on fb!
As for the site being down, dont they know its a weekend! Agree its a good time to look at LH though...was rubbish on charity stuff and must do more this year!

    Hi all.

ISOM - have pm'd you re Chalky's real name. The photos she has posted up on FB so far are fantastic!
What a palaver re the milk bottle tops! I remember collecting them when I was small, and also when my sons were small and still at school, but it was a collective effort then with all the other pupils, and then we had the free school milk, so it didn't take that long to collect a substantial amount. Sadly, it seems that doorstep milk delivery is unique to the UK - we don't have one here, otherwise I would have sent some to you! One thing to remember is to wash the tops before you store them, otherwise they start to smell - I just used to add them to the washing up!

Happycrafter - I hope you are feeling better today. If the cough hangs around for more than a few days, it might be worth a trip to the doctors in case you have a chest infection.

Elaine - I wonder what you'll buy besides buttons?! I'm going to see if I can fight my way into LH today; my PC doesn't seem to like it there, and always logs me out for some reason that no-one can get to the bottom of. I think I shall try a few things to put it right.

Shaz - hope you're feeling better. It does sound as if you are run down so please try and take some time to rest up.

My stash is quite organised at the moment but won't be next week. Most of it's in five big plastic crates in the spare bedroom which DH is going to be working in next week, plastering the ceiling, so the crates will have to be moved temporarily. I also have a big wooden blanket box stuffed with wool and some wips, then there's the smaller blanket box next to my end of the sofa, and a lovely basket with a lid on it that I keep the current wips in, also next to my end of the sofa. I suppose it IS a l ot of wool, but that won't stop me visiting my favourite wool shop the next time we are back in the UK!

Well, today I have to wrap and post birthday pressies off to DGS who's 11 on Thursday, and his sister, DGD1, who's 8 on Sunday - I have to keep the parcels quite light because postage is expensive here, but I shall take heavier things over when we go in March.

Anyway, I hope we all survive the long day without the forum - it's going to feel strange without it but, you never know, I may even get a bit more housew**k done!

I hope you all have a good day today and that all those who are unwell feel a lot better.

Jean - I shall clear my 2010 totals now which sadly will make my 2011 ones seem really pathetic!

NEWBIES AND LURKERS: Please join us; you'll be warmly welcomed! To find out what we do, please refer to page 95 of this thread, post 1885!

Anyway DH is doing my head in - the preperation takes days with him - yes it looks great when finished but he does like to faff - iykwim! - I just want to get on and do my job which is rollering - so far today I have pulled up an annoying bunch of weeds on driveway - washing (no ironing though whoops) - deep cleaned kitchen - tidied up a bit - made lunch - my wool is positively shouting at me - can you lot not hear it :rotfl::rotfl:
