Salome - your 18year old sounds like a lovely girl! How kind of her to make all those children a toy each. She must be very talented. I'm sure we would all like to see photos if that's possible!

Psso nice to see you, wondered where you'd got to. Ex's can be such a pain can't they, I think it's compulsory. Your bedroom sounds very similar to mine, must have a clear out, repeat after me.

Hope all goes well tomorrow mioliere, and the farm sounds sooo nice.

Salome your 'chidren' sound like a great bunch, what age is the youngest? Just like to get a picture in my head.

    Well done ISOM.

    Love to everyone xxx

    Hello

Can I join this thread? I've recently started knitting, am a total beginner I used to knit scarves for my teddies, but that was about 35 years ago!

Recently discovered a passion/obsession for yarn following a trip to the Bead Fair in Nottingham. Have already bought lots of different yarn, am now looking for things to knit and thought knitting for charity would be fab. I might not be a particularly fast knitter, but am sure every little helps.

    bye for now,
    Jo

Hi Jo4ann - a warm welcome to you; hope you enjoy it here. For an idea of what we do, please look at post 1885 on page 95 - it will tell you exactly what we do! It doesn't matter how fast you knit, your contributions will be very welcome; as you say, every little really does help!

Hello Jo4Anne and welcome. Isn't yarn the most lovely stuff? Sounds like you've made a good start on a 'stash'. Pretty soon you'll have to smuggle it into the house!

welcome to our latest addition to the group Jo4ann :)

hope all are well managed to do some sewing up last night so finally have an update

    9 12 ply fishermens hats
    1 baby cardi

all sewn up and the cardi has a button on so at least i feel like ive done something this year now:rotfl:also did a row on a second cardi - ive done the sleeves and just working on the body for that one. it seemed to work well just leaving a small bag of wool done over christmas as ive used most of it and didnt have tons everywhere for family to comment on how much wool i have.;)

i hope everyones day has something in to make them smile

hugs to all including the newbies and lurkers

    Hi

Thank you for your nice comments on the children. They are a great bunch, though they get their moments when I wonder lol. I do wonder who 'boss' is sometimes, especially with my girls. I notice more often there is a daughter-mother reversal role lol. Sometimes I'm not too sure who 'mum' is me or them :-) Then of course they 'know it all' !!!!!! Mum doesn't know anything and must have been raised on Mars or somewhere totally obscure from Earth lol. The classic is when we're watching a period drama, and one, usually the 13yr old, looks up and says 'do you remember when it was like that?' or 'was this when you were alive?' lol. Not sure whether she's implying I'm dead when she makes comments of that sort lol Children can be such a joy :-)
I'll see if I can pinch some pictures from my knitting daughter. I know she's got some on her facebook. It's funny isn't it, that in today society where DS's and Wii's and computers etc are the 'thing' children still like a knitted toy !!!!
Have a blessed and prosperous day. Hugs to all in need ((((hugs)))) Love you all.

Thanks for the warm welcome, have looked at the posting on pg 95 and previous threads, I see there are loads of great links, looks like I'm going to be spoilt for choice as to where to start!

Kinsey - yes, have built up a lovely little stash since November and am a single girly, so no problem smuggling it in the house, but 'smuggling' it onto my spending diary is more the problem! :rotfl:

Was wondering what everyone did as their first charity knit ...... or do you have a favourite item which you love to knit over and over?

id totally forgotten the first squares kathy so editted my post after reading yours, it was indeed knitting squares for charity that started this thread

i remember after the squares that started the thread, my first item was something for loving hands it was a prem baby hat, (thats another website that lots of us knit for. the links are on here for it).

i dont stick with one type of item i see what lou sets as the season challenge on LH and ppick something that needs or if anyone on here posts they are knitting for a charity and need help ill try and do something for example the lovely ISOM is knitting cat blankets for a local rescue centre so ill be doing one of those soon.

just pick something that you want to do and enjoy, its not race or a competion we all have different commitments and life usually gets in the way of the best laid plans. we do the weekly update just as a record of our achievments so we can see as a group what we are doing. it really doesnt matter if you knit 1 item or 1000 items a year for charity. the item you knit will be special to the person or animal you knit it for because you took the time to do it.:)
