    Hi all.

ISOM - if you still have a temperature it might be worth a visit to the doctor; you may have an infection. Good luck with your new health regime, and with the weight loss. It is usually a bit quieter than usual on here in January, for all sorts of reasons, and I don't think the horrid weather has helped. Along with that, there has been a lot of sadness and anxiety, too.

Well, I've nearly finished my Mrs Twins square, so I should be able to post it on Monday.

Anyway, some positive news about my BIL. You may remember that he was hoping that the doctors would put in a second stent because the first one has not been working quickly enough at clearing the jaundice (which they need to clear before they can start chemo). The doctors said that it would be very risky. Well, my BIL has insisted that he is happy to take the risk, that he will sign anything they want him to, and that he would rather give it a go than sit around waiting for the worst to happen. Well, finally, after both he and my sister's efforts at convincing them, they have agreed to do it, and he goes into hospital on Wednesday. They are so so happy and it's made them both feel really positive. We all know that it may not work, and that the risk is huge, but at least something is being done. It has been terrible for them, and the rest of the family, just sitting and hoping for a miracle. It has given us all a much-needed boost; let's hope it does the job, and the chemo can start asap.

I can't believe that I have actually put some washing out on the line; it's the first time since the middle of October! The sun is shining and, while it's not exactly the middle of summer, it's warm enough to wander about outside with lots of layers on. I just hope it lasts!

Anyway, I hope you are all having a good weekend.

Thanks, Kinsey and ISOM; even though the news is just a little more positive, it's still better than it was a week ago. Now, we are all praying that everything goes well on Wednesday.

ISOM - not sure when the work in the tearoom will start; probably once the weather feels more like spring, I should think! I am back at the farm on Tuesday, though, because our lovely local 'book' lady now visits there, with a lovely selection of second-hand English books, on one Tuesday each month, and she is starting up a book club there, too, so that's something to look forward to. Besides selling books at €3 each, she also buys back the ones you've read, and any other books you don't want, for €1 each, so I have quite a few for her - this means that I can treat myself to some new books AND some lovely sausages from the farm itself!

Well, after a cool wet morning, the sun is beaming away now, and it looks really nice outside. I've put out fresh food for the birds - I can hardly believe the number of blue tits and coal tits we have here now, as well as chaffinches, one pair of blackbirds (they are usually very thin on the ground here), sparrows, and robins. They seem to have just about managed to cope through the coldest weather conditions, so it's good to know that we have been able to help them do that by regular feeding and watering. They're lovely to watch, too.

I have finished my Mrs Twins square, so will probably start a cat blanket next, then something for the new baby. Of course, it all depends on time these days - I've just been told I'm on standby for bucket-washing again! I lead such a glamorous life here, don't I?

I hope you are all having a lovely day.

    Hi there all.
I'm back in Wales after Christmas/New Year visits but feeling especially tired and achy at the moment so not been very active. Partly weather, partly gloomy mood as divorce moves closer, partly fact that new meds not doing that well. May up the dose soon and see how that does.
Did a little crocheting when I was away at my sister's but then somehow managed to snap my 6mm crochet hook and haven't yet replaced it.
I'm currently crocheting different sized squares using up various bits of dk stash in the hope of creating a babette/crazy patchwork style charity blanket. Each square is one yarn only but i'm hoping that by using each yarn for several different sized squares that the whole will eventually come together overall. Early days but it's nice non thinking work which suits my state of brain fogginess!

    Afternoon all :hello:

Woke up to a beautiful morning, sun shining and a nice blue sky, not that warm but managed to get some washing out, did'nt completely dry but a few mins in the dryer and it was dry enough for ironing and before you ask... NO I did'nt iron it, it's in the airing cupboard awaiting my pleasure....goodness knows when that will be :rotfl:

kathy - I am so pleased to hear your BIL and sister are in such a positive frame of mind, and that the Doctor's have taken notice of what they want, I hope all goes well and will send a prayer up for them x What a good idea your book lady has with the part exchange book deals, re-cycling at it's best :D
mrs-moneypenny - yes I do that sometimes its a way of using up the VERY brights.I do mine corner to corner so all the little bits get used up as well
ISOM - hope you feel better today. Cat blanket almost finished, I am using up odds and ends so it's quite colourful. Using 5mm needles and my usual DK doubled up, I had some chunky given me so have used a bit of that as well. How's Gaspar? still dodging ISOKI I hope:D
shaz - I'm trying to lose a bit as well, don't seem to be getting anywhere ATM though, willpower in short supply I think ;)
Seakay - hope you feel better soon, you seem to have a lot on your plate at the moment ((hug))

Well I have sorted out 2 wardrobes and various cupboards and now have a large bag ready to go to the charity shop, a bag of rubbish for the dustmen, and lots of cardboard for re-cycling, so I am on the way with my 'Year of the clear out' :T

Off to watch TV and finish the cat blanket now.

  • Well there went one of my new years resolutions right out the door in the very first week......I had "promised myself" that I would log in at least once a day and do catch up and post on the forum............just checked and my last posting was the 1st of January.....SORRY. I have the camper to empty tonight but came to log in and add my work since the beginning of the year. I should print it little, because that's just what it is - feeble. I have been in the sewing room, but as yet nothing is complete. I have been on the knitting machine but the work is for the school summer fete. So from the armchair needles I give you

    2 hats for sailors

I will get into the swing of things but it was just so hard to even consentrate this past week. Right being yelled at to empty the camper but have made a note on the desk to log in tomorrow and catch up with you all. I hope you will forgive me for the rush, love and cuddles to you all.
    xx

    Hi

Hee hee. I think my previous post about gloves for a birthday present got people confused lol. It wasn't my birthday. My birthday's in June :-) I was talking about someone elses birthday, who I'm knitting the gloves for lol :-) Sorry to have confused you all.
Mrs twins I will tell mum about the house she will be pleased to hear about it :-)
    My weekend was pretty hectic.
Still have a poorly son :-( He has a day off today, so maybe he'll be able to sleep off the most of whatever it is that is ailing him. He went to the docs, but wasn't given anything because it's a virus, so he's dosing up on Lemsips !! Mind you, being a smoker doesn't help, and he's not the worlds healthiest eater either. Fruit puts an undiscribable expression on his face. Almost as if it's a nasty substance that has fallen out of space expression I suppose, but more lol.
I have got one of the gloves I'm knitting now made up, just need to make the little mitt cap for it. I was wearing my pair I'd knitted for myself on Boxing day. We'd popped into a local town as some of the shops were open, and my two of my daughters were working. One if them were was working in arctic conditions. Her shop was absolutely freezing. The whole centre was freezing, there didn't seem to be any heating on, so we went to buy her and her collegue a cup of hot chocolate from Star Bucks and the girl who served said she liked my gloves. I told her I'd made them, and she said "you should be selling them" I suppose I missed a chance there, and should have offered to make and sell her a pair ????? lol.
This December coming, I'm hoping to get a little craft stall up together for when we have the lights turning on day, and sell a few things, so the money can go towards an African school we're sponsering. Our pastors wife is off out to there in the summer to see what is needed etc. So when I've got the birthday pressies I want to knit up together, I shall make a start on things to sell. I think I'm going to be knitting hats gloves and scarves all year lol.
Have a blessed and prosperous day. Hugs to all who need them ((((hugs)))) Love you all.
