    Morning :hello:
It snowed overnight here not too bad 2-3" the roads are clearing quite quickly though so thats good
I don't need to go out for anything so I am staying put, I'll get a few little jobs done then I will just have to sit and knit...ooo It's a hard life :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

MrsTwins - I posted your parcel yesterday. Loved the link the knitted house is wonderful, just shows the power of wool ;)
Salome -Sorry I did'nt realise it was your birthday yesterday so a Belated Happy Birthday to you. Your Mum being involved in the knitting of the house how good is that:T it must be lovely to be part of a group like that
dpixie - have a safe journey and enjoy your time back in blighty :)
mrs-m - I always double up on the DK as I had'nt any chunky wool when I did the first animal blankets, and ISOM said they were fine so I have carried on doing them like that, its a good way of using up odd balls as well.
Shelley - glad it arrived. I have a few more little hats to send and more ties, hope the others are the right length I did them 10" if they need to be longer just let me know :D
ISOM - hope you feel better today. Thanks for the link, that giant cardigan looks great, must have taken a lot of working out
kathy - have you started your Jan Eaton square yet? sent mine yesterday, number 35 for this one. I just love the JE squares, havent started any from the JE knitted squares book yet though always seem to go for the crochet ones.
Wonder how Chalky is getting on
May - hope you are feeling a little better now :)

isom, glad ur feeling better today, how many stitches do u cast on for the cat blankets?, my brain a bit foggy this am, and not good at working it out, i could do those while watching tv on a night

really bad snow here today, had to drive daniel to school, which is in the middle off nowhere, skidded a few times, but luckily didnt hit anything other than a kerb.
while i was out i called at the supermarket on the way home, to stock up the fridge and freezers, so if the snows gets as bad as last time, we'll survive

desperatly wanting to go to my craft group this afternoon, missed going over the school xmas hols, so i think i may get a taxi, not very mse, but better than me having to drive

    hugs all

    HI everyone

Didn't get on here yesterday but am trying to catch up today.

ISOM - so glad you are feeling better; that was a nasty bout of illness, wasn't it?

Salome - so sorry I missed your birthday yesterday. Hope you had a lovely day!:bdaycake:

Linedancerann - thanks for your pm's!

Pippa - It's a pain in the you-know-what that you're still getting snow. Here, at last, it has become quite a bit milder, but damp and windy. It's still cold at night, though. I think we are in for another cold spell soon. I think we'll all be really glad when the winter is but a distant memory, won't we? I'm doing square no 33 (Pretty in Pink, I think it's called) and, although Mrs Twins said colour doesn't matter, I have lots of pinks so will do that colour, anyway!

Well, it's time for lunch now - where does the time go? I've got some sweet potato and red pepper soup on the hob (it's lovely, especially with a bit of chilli in it) and ideal for a cold day.

Hope you are all having a good day.

    Afternoon all!

the cat blankets are 20" square, and are knitted or crocheted in chunky (or 2 strands of dk together) which generally knits at about 4 or 5 stitches to the inch
So you could cast on 15 stitches and do a tension square to see waht you knit to the inch and then work it out from there,
or you could cast on 100 stitches to be on the safe side and see how big the square turns out so you'd know for next time.
I've been doing them in crochet trebles, like a giant granny square, so I don't actually cast on the full amount at the start.
