The very first items on this thread were 8" squares which we sent to a charity which sewed them all together into blankets for the elderly. In fact, that was how this whole thread began! Since then, we have found more and more charities that all need a variety of different things. After we reached our total of squares (and the response was so good, we needed to keep revising the total!), my first items were hats for premature babies, which were sent to Loving Hands. I'd also be interested to know what everyone's 'first' was! The hats are also great for something to keep making over and over again because they grow quickly, the pattern becomes second nature once you've done a couple, and they are a great way of using up oddments of wool. Best of all, they help a tiny little baby in need!

Jo4ann - I'd love to know what you pick for your 'first'!!

I have just posted off my Mrs Twins JE square, and have nearly finished an ISOM cat square, then I have to decide what to do next!

Hi everyone and  hello to Jo4nne, nice to see you.

Hmm, can`t recall what my `first` was. I`d been doing tiny hats and cardies for the local premature baby unit and blankets for the PDSA before I joined in here, so probably just carried on doing the same. Think I came on board after the squares had been done but as my kids don`t wear handknits, and I can`t sit with idle hands, I just pick up needles and wool and do something, anything, and usually most of the stuff I do goes to Loving Hands. Always find a home for everything does Lou.

If you liked knitting scarves for your teddies Jo just do them with a few more stitches and a bit longer and they will be great for kiddies or adults. That will get you back into the swing of it without too much faffing about with patterns - maybe you want a bit of a challenge though ? Whatever you decide on, if you get stuck just shout and someone will be along with some help.

Been tidying out `my corner` today so some of the wool has been banished back into the chest of drawers, temporarily at least. Am trying to only have the wip`s in the `workbox` -( one of those big plastic tub things usually used in the garden) so it looks more manageable. What the eye doesn`t see.......................:rotfl:
Can`t believe how long it has taken to do it though, mind you all those little balls had to be rewound neatly and put in a carrier bag and one day I will get around to knitting them up into stripey blankets for kittykats or something. Animals are colourblind aren`t they -are they ?- but I`m sure they won`t mind as long as they are cosy and comfy.

Off to rummage in the freezer for something for tea, something easy like lasagne methinks. Getting lazy in me old age.:o

Have a good evening everyone and keep nice and cosy.

ETA - crossed posts happycrafter - don`t think we have a wish list as such at the moment. Insearchofme has asked for cat blankets for a charity she is involved with, but otherwise we just knit what we like, quite a lot of it goes to LH and Preemies UK but some of us take the things we do to local baby units, pet charities etc.

    Good morning, everyone.

Mrs Twins - the latest blankets are as gorgeous as ever; the squares are wonderful and I love the way you finish them off. It really does justice to all that international talent! My JE square is on the way - I hope it doesn't take too long to cross the channel!

PSSO - I hope the cats aren't too fussy about colour; the blanket I've almost finished (if I could keep my eyes open when I'm sitting on the sofa, it would help!) is a strange mixture of blue and rust. The wool is chunky but really soft, so it should be nice for sitting on! The blankets are a great way of using up oddments of chunky that would just be sitting around not being used.

Anyway, the news from my sister about my BIL sounds like bad news but really isn't. He was due to have a second stent fitted yesterday after begging the doctors to do it despite the risks they were worried about. The stent was meant to clear the jaundice so that they could start the chemo that he needs. Well, when he arrived at the hospital, his levels were checked before the op could go ahead, and they found that they have dropped considerably, so the first stent is finally doing its job. They have now said that if the levels continue to fall in the same way, he could start the chemo within two weeks, which is brilliant news. If the levels don't fall much more, they will go ahead with the second stent, also within two weeks. So, we are all praying that the chemo can start very soon without the need for this operation.

Jean - I love the latest photos you've posted on Wooligans!

I hope you all have a lovely day.
