Ha! We obviously have very similar tastes in girls' names!! My Seren (also 2) is Seren Eliza. We also considered Scarlett and Bryony. I LOVED Matilda, by OH wasn't having it at all. I'm glad now!Proud to be dealing with my debts0 -
My cousin's daughter has just had a baby girl. She called her Luna . I'm still not sure about it, but it's early days yet and it'll probably grow on me. My daughter was born in 1988 and i called her Jamie. My ex's gran hated it.
Woman after my own heart..fab name Jamie, i always say that if i have another child, which is not likelyboy or girl it would be called Jamie....no spelling mistakes there and would stand out today...must be my age :rotfl:

Seren means star in Welsh, so I suppose it's the equivalent of Stella.
I like them both, but I hate 'made up' names. I have an unusual name, for my age, and an unusual surname. Oh, to be something like Pat Jones!Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.
(Pity they are mangled by this autocorrect!)0 -
I am reading this with interest having just found out we are expecting another girl.
Every name i come up with DH says "oh yes thats nice" great i think, only when i mention it again he'll say "no i don't like that!!!" aaaaarrrggghhhh
We had all this with our last daughter and he eventually named her Lyla after an Oasis song!!!
So far i have come up with Tabitha, Claudia, Verity, Marianne, Esther, Evelyn, Cordelia, Orlaith surely i can expect him to like at least ONE of these there can't be many more i haven't thought of!!!
The only one he keeps coming with is Sarah which i think is okay and when said with his accent (southern) is nice but we live up north and with the flat vowels it becomes suruh!!!
Same goes for Sophie!!!!!
Help please!!!!!I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -
Shoshannah wrote: »Lots of lovely suggestions on this thread. I too love the Gaelic names but would personally steer clear as they are just too unpronounable/unspellable for most.
I will give my kids 'regular' names, nothing made-up or difficult to spell. I've lived for 25 years with a name that people just can't spell or pronounce and although I do like my name, it gets a bit exhausting having to correct people all the time. And some people just pronounce it wrong no matter how many times I have corrected them.
I would also steer clear of cutesy names. Is it Jamie Oliver who called his two Poppy Honey and Daisy Boo? Sure, that's cute when they're four years old, but what about when they're 39?
I like Agatha, Norah and Grace for girls, and William, Robert and Jeremy for boys.
I loooove your name Shoshannah, it was a strong contender for a middle name but it doesn't go with Luna or her surname, I was guttedIn the event I have any more kids after this one, it's the top of my list for a girl's name.

i love the name luna. hubby isn't too keen on it tho.
for girls names we had on our list when i was last preg and wasn't sure if i was having a boy or a girl. we had Scarlett,
Faith,
Brooke,
Melissa Jayne,
Ruth and
Ruby.
we still like most of the names so sure they will stick on our list.
Our Daughter is called Tori not short for anything Just plain and simple tori. I wanted Emma but hubby didn't like it. so we comprimised on Tori Emma and it suits her perfectly. We get so many compliments on how pretty it is. even if most struggle to pronouce it,lol. Mainly adults tho.0 -

I actually think something also staring with L might sound good (obviously depending on your second name though)....eg Luna Louise is quite nice!

You can get a Luna buggy as well, it's one of those weird shopping trolley chassis jobs I think.Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession
