My cousin's daughter has just had a baby girl. She called her Luna . I'm still not sure about it, but it's early days yet and it'll probably grow on me. My daughter was born in 1988 and i called her Jamie. My ex's gran hated it.

I'm due in September and calling our baby girl Luna, struggling to think of a middle name that goes though.

I quite like all the names on your list:) Not sure I would call my baby girl any of them, but they aren't too unusual that they are silly iykwim:D

I always liked Mia, Evie, India and Ruby as girls names....but they are far, far to common now. I am due a baby in 2wks which is supposedly a girl (although we have boys names prepared too) and I have chosen a fairly unusual name, well I haven't come across any kiddies with the name so far. Although it is the name of an older famous actress:)

I think Orlaith is much nicer, just didn't want to put you off. Of course, you could officially name her Orlaith, and just have the anglicised version of Orla for school and every day use, then when she's older she can decide what she wants to do.

My baby daughter is Violet. I did say when we were having her it wouldn't be shortened, but sometimes now I find myself saying Vi or V. I still haven't heard of any other real life Violets (under 70 years old) and I will scream if she starts school and another bunch of Violets appear.

When she was born, and we told people the name, we got some strange looks, but it's grown on everyone and they love it now.

(Except my Nan who said all the Violets she knew back in the day were tarts!):rotfl:
My 4 year old is called Violet and we don't know of any other ones. People would ask me if we named her after Violet in Coronation street . We call her letty at home :D

DD is Elinor (as opposed to Eleanor) and I never thought people would have such a difficult job spelling it. The most outlandish mis-spelling is probably "Elenour". And these are from people who know me well, get cards from me with her name on, etc...

Mind, I should have realised because I have the plainest of plain names and still get the "y" added in, and have also had it spelled "Jain".

At least DD doesn't get this problem - you can't go far wrong with Alex!

What I find strange is that there is a gap of two school years between DD and DS, but he has got classmates with some really odd names (imo) which DD doesn't have at all. It's telling that there are hardly any "doublers" in DS's class but there's quite afew in DD's. In fact I think the only girl doubler is Olivia, so one of them is addressed as "Livi". Some of DS's more unusually named classmates are Freya, Brittany, Amelia, Redvers, Anya, Kayleigh, Keanu, Jenson, Layla, Cole, Lois, Madog, Carter and Tiegan.

I like Luna Seren but it's taking the theme a bit too far, lol.
