Rack-el is spelt Raquel.
I think people want to put the extra e in Rachael because Michael is spelt like that.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

I love Gaelic names
When my DD was born, I wanted for her an unusual first name that was not too outlandish, and a more ordinary middle name that she could fall back on if she found spelling her first name out too much of a chore as she grew up.
Trouble is, being non-native and back then pretty fresh off the boat as it were, I don't think I quite managed my briefI still think her names are beautiful, though - and I've yet to meet another girl with the same first name !
Bear with me, it does have a connection with the Gaelic names post - for her first name, I went to Gaelic, but I think I went a bit too far into the past, cos I lost the count of times I've been asked by an Irish person where her name comes from ! She is called Morrigan Isabella - Morrigan is (I believe) from Mor Rigan, meaning "Great Queen" (and Chu Chulain's nemesis). Isabella, on the other hand (that was to be her "normal" name) is Italian and a family name. How about:
Niamh (Gaelic: 'bright', Princess of the land of Promise who left with Ossian for the Otherworld),
Caoimhe (Gentle, graceful, beauty)
Aoife (Gaelic form of the name Eve. Aoife was a daughter of King Dermot of Leinster who married the Norman invader Strongbow)
Roisin (Gaelic: Rose, Rosaleen is a variant)
Aisling (Dream, vision
Saoirse (Freedom)0 -

Hiya, I have an unusual name which is always spelt or pronounced incorrectly but i would far rather correct people than change it for a 'normal' name. I wouldn't worry what other people think, as long as it doesn't make a funny/rude word when combined with their surname then it should be ok. x"Find something you love to do and you'll never have to work a day in your life." - Harvey Mackay

Me too........Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0
