meandmymoney.co.uk halifax scam?

I forwarded mine to their security email address for reporting phishing scams. If everyone did this it would keep them busy for a while. I used to be a regular customer of BOS but since they were taken over by Lloyds TSB I've pulled everything out.
Maybe a subject access request would reveal what they have been doing with my personal data? Is that worth a tenner of my hard-earned cash?Just broke, even.0 -
Even though the entry page for the meandmymoney site doesn't display anything, there are still pages that display on the site. So if this is their attempt at pulling the site down, it's a pretty feeble one. Just search for "meandmymoney login" to see what I mean. Classic!0

To the people reporting a blank page at the url: Did you have javascript disabled?
I found a page there that relies entirely on javascript. Don't know what it does, because i ain't running it.Eco Miser

Javascript is active and the page is blank. The xxx.meandmymoney.co.uk/login takes me to a Halifax page similar to the one to be found deep within the Lloyds TSB web site. It's early days but there is no reply from my reporting of this e-mail to the fraud department of my bank. I'm being cynical but I doubt there ever will be.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Got one of these emails on an address only known by Halifax. Having read all this thread then I reckon it probablly is legit - either that or their user list has been pinched/hacked which isn't impossible but you've got to hope not.
However, speaking as a long-time IT professional who's worked for the good, bad and ugly - including a couple of banks, I've got to recommend that you:keep clear!
The banks are paranoid about security and if it was them directly I'd not worry so much. But this third party organisation has done so little testing that they send a mail out saying "Dear : " ( i.e. blank name), without institution name, with dead links and has stirred up this sort of confusion. I wouldn't trust them to know how to secure any personal data you subsequently supply including passwords or have tested that it is secure.
To: Halifax PR numpty who's found this thread...
When I (probably) agreed through the standard terms and conditions that you could share my details with third parties that are acting on your behalf, I didn't mean to include technically incompetant "fluffies" like Charlotte.0 -
Here is a link to a Lloyds branded portal for this survey company:
portal[dot]verve-lloyds.vovici.net/LloydsLogin/tabid/6589/language/en-US/LloydsWhatisMeandMyMoney/tabid/6590/language/en-US/Default.aspx
I too like several users on this thread use an unique email address for my Lloyds account and would love to know why they have breached the DPA by handing out my personal details without my express permission.0 -
I got one of the Charlotte e-mails too, but it did not have my name or any other identifying details, so I rang the bank.
They said to e-mail emailscams@ltsb.co.uk, which I did a few days ago.So far no response, not even an acknowledgement, so spoke with the bank again.
I was told that they don't reply to such e-mails unless the scam is likely to affect the customer's account. Nice.
Another nice touch from LTSB:
The Online Help button "Ask a question" takes one to a site that Trend Micro thinks is dangerous. TM says:
"Website blocked by Trend Micro Internet Security
The website you wanted to see might transmit malicious software to your computer, or has done that before to someone else. It may also show signs of involvement in online scams or fraud."
I've reported that as well to the bitbucket ...0 -
I've just had a reply from emailscams@LTSB about Charlotte-gate.
It's basically the same as the reply from the Press Office as reported by SD1 on 18-03-2011, 3:29 PM
At least they have replied.0 -
When I received this e-mail a couple of weeks ago I phoned Halifax straight away as they are the only ones with that e-mail address.
They told me that they would never send an e-mail to their customers and that if an e-mail is ever received from Halifax to delete it straight away.
They asked me to forward the e-mail to them which I have done and they are now investigating it. Be careful folks!0
