If you claim IS after April 2004 you need to also claim CTC for any dependant children. Before that date IS inc allowances for children. Those on IS before April 2004 will change over to the new system, but I don't know when....
It is different, but it's just another government new rule for IS claimants. Does that help answer your question Chel? Has anything been sorted yet?0 -
chel has your daughter applied for CTC yet ?0

she has now got ctc and it will be backdated for 3 months so i understand. I am glad about this but she has had no income support for over 10 months. Why wasnt she changed over to ctc some years ago? The capital is still in dispute but on ctc the 16.000 savings doesnt apply so ive been told, if this ir right and she should have been having ctc then with thier capital rule she woudlnt have been overpaid in 2004. The case has now gone for apeal but i think now this takes several months. At least now she has some income from ctc0

I think that it will take a few years for the LA's to transfer the child element of IS over to CTC, the only reason I get CTC is because I applied for it myself rather than wait to be transfered over.chel1234 wrote:she has now got ctc and it will be backdated for 3 months so i understand. I think the overpayment in 2004 was for your daughter's part of IS not the child element, so even if she was on CTC she would still have been overpaid.
Good that she has some income coming in,0
