Some wonderful names have been suggested so far! Loving Rowan. The ASDA test is a very good way of testing a name, as is thinking about name lengths for filling out forms and whether you can picture your child's name on their name peg at school.
The older names are definitely coming back though - to name a few I've taught... Seamus, Isaac (LOVE the name Isaac), Angus, Hugh and Harrison.
leefire, you could call your son Seamus to have a very obscure Harry Potter reference.
Anyway, I've heard some really unusual ones lately. Some friends of our family have just called their newborn son Bailey. Some other friends have called their son Avalon.
The trouble OH and I will have when the time comes for us to have children is the fact, as a teacher I've started associating certain names with certain behaviour traits. I won't list the ones that come to mind.

my OH's sister in law is a teacher in a school in australia - there is a kid in her school who is the third son born to a family called fitzpatrick.
so they called him hattrick.
why not go with something like that?0 -

I know some people who have said this. I used to do work placement and worked with a few kids who were terrors and therefore, would never call my kids those names.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

It's really lovely - as a drink!
I like quite a few Biblical names - although I don't care for a lot of the Dingle ones - like Shadrach.0
