I think Theo and Rowan are lovely - not very common names, and they aren't silly names or chav names...

    I should've called DS Egon

because I have spent the last 16 years saying 'Where's Egon?'

    (say it ;))

I know a female Rowan, male and female Morgans, and a female Sidney

I liked Meredith (but no-one else did) (For a girl)

One of my most favourites (but failed to get the necessary approval) was Jake. I also like Rhys/Reece

I LOVE Meredith.. OH hates it..
I love the name Jonah. My youngest is called Joel. I had never, ever come across a Joel. Two of my friends had sons just after me and they both called their son Joel. Not come across any others though.

Daniel and Adam are both very common names here at the moment. So if you want something usual I would keep away from those.

    D.

I know 2 Joels.. they will both be substantially older than your son though I'd wager!

I absolutely love the name Richard. (But make sure it goes with your surname!).

My son is Ben, I still like that, also Adam (in fact many of the old Biblical names), Angus and Alex (ander).

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton

Make sure it's one people can pronnounce. I try not to laugh when someone manages to say mums' first and last names wrong.

And don't do what a friend did - his sons' first name is 7 letters and his surname is 11. (and a bit of a mouthful to say too)

I like Layton, Sonnie, Jessy, Clayton, Bede, Jude, Dillon and Westley, what do you think of these names my wifey woman doesnt like any of them especially Jessy.

I'm your wife on this one - calling a boy Jessy is akin to child abuse!

Why don't you get many Michaels these days - it's a great name with a choice of abbreviations.

I thouhgt it was a males' name? The only person I've ever met called Rowan, was male.
