    You can never tell.

I chose Owen for my son, in 1999. It was kind of rare then. But it's not rare now, and there are several other Owens at his school.

My daughter is Jennifer. She was born the same week, I think, as Gordon Brown's daughter Jennifer Jane, the little one who didn't make it. There was no connection, I should add, although we share a Scottish heritage we were living in New Zealand at the time.

So you can never guess. However, do try to avoid names that are too trendy. I worry slightly about the law students I've taught who are called Kylie. Erm, judge Kylie???? I don't think so!

I have 2 sons, Karl William Aaron and Zachary James Samuel, if we have a boy next we would like to call him Max Azariaz Xavier, (OH insists on the middle names!) but when we marry we will all have the surname Kay, which would mean Max would have the initials the same as his name MAXK (Max Kay), OH thinks its fab, i love Max but am not keen on the middle bit lol!

I also love Devon, Reuben, Issac Elijah and Elliot!

I have a Seth, which I love but know of three other little Seths in our area, which makes me a tiny bit sad as thought i was being original!

At park in very posh bit of London the other day was a little boy called Walter, which I love, especially Walt (Sword in the Stone, anyone?)

Also like Sonny, Rufus, Silas, Hunter, and Jim.

I also have a girl called Kitty, which is her actual name, not shortned. And if she becmes a Judge she will not be judge Kitty she will be Judge Murphy, cos thats how it works ;-)

Yeah, Ada, that's how it works, I know. She'd be Wright J. But if you look in the front of the law reports for the judges' names, you will see that their first names are given too. They tend to have very conservative names generally, I suspect there is a class element here... Also, if there are two judges with the same surname, they do use the first name.

At least it's a proper name. I swear so many names sound made up these days.

let's face it all names were made up by someone at some stage.
