Trouble is, so many newborns look like Winston Churchill! :rotfl:

(mine of course were far more beautiful than this, but it's a risk!)

At least they don't look like Golum from Lord of The Rings! (2 of my cousins did!)

    Hi All

What an interesting thread - will certainly revisit if/when we have another one!

My DS is called Isaac which we thought was unusual, but a name everyone would have heard of...

However... turns out it is quite common now (there are 3 of us in our swimming class of 8!!!)

Plus NOBODY spells it correctly! We chose the traditional spelling with 2 a's together - but as 2 a's together is quite rare in english, we get ISSAC all the time! Plus, having read this thread, there are various other alternatives too ;)

So anyway - I would choose a name where there is no ambiguity over spelling as I didn't realise how much it would annoy me! :)

A friend of mine has a son called Aneurin, known as Nye.

I also like Taliesin, Atticus and Aloysius as unusual boys' names.

Norbert is unusual I`ve only ever heard of it in the film Norbert.

I've only heard of it because of Norbert the Norwegian Ridgeback dragon in Harry Potter.

ETA: Or you could always call him Smith (though obviously if your surname is Smith then that's a bit mean...).

    Kidding aren't you?

We've had Rodderick, Rodrick, Roddick.. all sorts of variations!

I think some people are just thick and/or don't think.. or read the cards etc we have sent them with his name in!
