Haven't read the whole thread, but my lil boys sunday name is Zacharias William *******
We call him Zach for short, but that is so so often spelt wrong! Zac, Zak, Zack
NO - Its short for ZACHarias, so the shortened spelling is Zach! lol

    I must admist I thought about how his name would sound if he was ever ;
    a - politician
    b - tv presenter
c - respected peer in his field
d - at school! how many of that name would be in his class!?

etc etc, and to me, Zacharias William covered all the bases :D

Oh, and I have had my first born son's name picked out since I was about 8! After reading Goodnight Mister Tom - I fell in love with the name Zacharias! :D

For a girl I would have gone Charlotte, shortened to Charlie
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

    Hmmm... still thinking on this.
I think it is important to have a 'full' name on the birth certificate - names give a very strong first impression, and if we want our children to go far, as we all do, then that is a crucial part!
For example, I know of a child named 'Tom' on his birth cert - fine, but Thomas looks more professional, Same for Mickey and Michael etc etc
And of course Zach and Zacharias lol! :p

First names cant get shortened and with our surname seem to work out ok my name is one of the third most common names in the country and hate that.

My mum did the same with us, we all have 1 syllable names so they cannot be shortened. All that happens is people lengthen them instead :D

What about Cooper, Mason, Atticus, Holden or Robert ( as long as your surname isn't green lol)

My niece mentioned a friend of hers called Sol today-I thought that was quite nice-not silly, but not common either.

Is that as in short for Solomon? It usually is.

Some other lovely names I have come across are Tudor, Rufus and Casper. Well they suited the people I met anyway. K.
