This post shows a few different ways of converting your mobile phone credit
You have the option of spending it on ring tones etc which is a waste of money, match"ed" betting or cashback

Can I ask a question or two???? Bit of a dumbo where phones are concerned and have been with virgin ever since we got mobiles:o but having used this site for lots of other things I realise that there are much more competitive deals out there such as this Giffgaff one.
1) Can I keep the same number and how do I do that?
2) I might need a new phone as well. I have looked at the giffgaff site and I don't think they sell phones. Everywhere I have looked where phones are sold they are tied into a network...and not giffgaff. Any help from you wonderful people would be gratefully received:)Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D0 -

You can take your number to another network. You need to ask Virgin for the pac number which you then pass onto your new network. Info here: http://www.paccode.me.uk/file/89893/virgin-mobile-pac-code.html
If you locate a new mobile you wish to purchase, then ask on here if it can be unlocked. Once unlocked you can use the phone on any network.
Hope this helps0 -

Somewhere you can take it back if it goes faulty!
I'd work out what type of phone you want i.e. smart phone or a basic phone and visit some stores i.e. carphonewarehouse and ask them to show you some based on your budget.
You need to handle the phones and so ideally you want to try some which work and not dummies.0
