    Sorry if this is a dumb question, but how can you easily tell if you've been "short-oiled"?

    If you always get the same amount of oil, and looks like less in the tank. If you have any queries, contact the company you bought it from

    Unfortunately there is no easy way to tell, you need to know how much your tank holds and gauge how much has been put in.

    Have a read from here and here

    I live in Coleraine, and have always used BoilerJuice in the past.
    When my invoice comes through, it has always been from Nicholl Oils

    Boiler juice's prices seem to have gone through the roof recently..

    Thankfully oil has come down slightly in price again in general

    Boilerjuice are an online agency, based in England. I dont know if they vet the suppliers but a boilerjuice tanker will never pull up outside your door. seems weird to me how they can sell oil cheaper than many of the suppliers based here. I also heard it can oftne take ages to get your oil as they are based in england...
    I believe the "bulk" up orders which then enables them to negotiate a better price. That is the theory but the practice seems to be different at the moment. Perhaps the NI suppliers are "ganging up" on them?

    Just thought I'd share my experience of Shell Direct. :mad: I've been buying my oil from them for a few years. Because of the tight entrance to my drive I have had to specify "the small lorry". Indeed this was noted in my account record anyway.
    Last week I phoned and placed my order as usual. On the day on which delivery was due Shell Direct rang me to say they had tried to make the delivery using a large lorry but had to go away again (surprise surprise). The young lady explained that the small lorry wouldn't be in my area for about a week so the delivery was rescheduled for today. Fortunately my tank wasn't critically low.
    When the delivery had not taken place by mid-afternoon today, I rang to enquire. I was told that as they had damaged their lorry on a previous delivery they would no longer be delivering to me.
    I subsequently had a few sharp words with the operations manager who explained that I needed to have deliveries made by a mini tanker not a small lorry and they did not have a mini tanker!
    They had four opportunities to approach me to inform me of the problem:
    1 When the tanker was supposedly damaged on my property (apparently about a year ago);
    2 When I placed my recent order;
    3 When they made the aborted delivery;
    4 Today, when they saw the rescheduled delivery on their route list.
    Shell Direct don't want me as a customer but I want to ensure that whomever I now buy my oil from, doesn't obtain their supplies from Shell. Does anyone know which suppliers are unconnected to Shell?
    TIA

    H. Ritchie & Sons, N'ards & Down Oil supplies are both Maxol as of course is Maxol direct.
    I also think that Finlay Fuels have a small tanker service but don't know who supplies them.

    Don't quote me but I don't think any of the independents use Shell since the Shell Direct thing happened.

    One other thing, if a lorry was damaged on your property IMO you would have noticed damage to your property. It's amazing that these people are doing so well they can throw away business!
