Also most people tend to use more over the Christmas period. I have just used 1000 litres in 2 months.

I thought I was bad! I last ordered oil on 04 01 07 - 2035 litres, which filled the tank.

The 1500 litres I ordered on 20 02 07 didn't fill the tank, but did empty my wallet. I thought it would take another 600 litres to fill it, yje delivery guy reckoned about 550.

By that reckoning I have used 2100 litres in 14 months; 1000 in 2 seems a bit high.

In fairness we have a Rayburn which is on 24/7 and it only provides cooking and hot water. The other boiler provides the central heating.
Never argue with an idiot. They bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.
  • 1000 litres in two months is a ridiculous amount of oil to be using. Glad you can afford it.

are the savings stamps for one particular oil supplier? I have an account with Cawoods but the last couple of times I have rang they have not price matched - presumably because they know I will buy from them because they have my money! I didn't know there was such a thing as savings stamps
  • I usually order 900 litres twice in a year from Watt Fuels in Doagh (he offers a discount for early payment and he's local (thinking about my carbon footprint). That lasts 5 months (Oct-Feb) and 7 months approx. to heat a 3 bedroomed detached with two kids who think that it's uncool to be seen closing a door in front of friends and wife who refuses to wear an extra jumper. I think that the secret to fuel efficiency is to get your boiler serviced regularly, we get ours cleaned and analysed every two years by a local company in Larne called "Heatcare" in yell.com, at £35 they are the cheapest around our area and do an excellent no mess job.

Got 500L delivered today £232 COD.

Just reviewing the thread and I last ordered 900L on 5/12/2007. Does anyone think that using 900L in Just under 3 months is excessive?

If it is excessive then we're using too much as well!

Usually have to refill in December and then again in March, so approx 1800L per year. I'm gonna have to start ringing round as it's getting low, I think I'm going to be in for an unpleasant surprise.
We use the boiler to heat water in the summer, but it's only on for about an hour a day.

WE moved house at end of july and i got tank filled then i think it was about 1100l. and ive only just had to order more. only getting 500l this time as just cant afford any more. so 1100l as done us 7months. so we seem to have done very well and thats for a 3bedroom semi
  • We orderd 900L in september and we still have half a tank left.

However we are out quite a bit and only use the 1 hr boost as its a timber frame house it holds the heat well.

Also we use a solid fire in the living room where we are most, but even then i have only bought about 8 bags of coal in that time.

my advice is put on a jumper instead of lounging around in a t-shirt!!!:o
