Hi there,
Was going to put this in the heating oil price thread but on second thoughs its a different topic.
Like most people I heat my home with oil and get the triplet print out when order is delivered. I dont have any guage on my tank and have to trust the tanker driver that the correct amount was delivered. The print out always shows the full amount of litres ordered.
My question is- (Hypothetical case) Is it atall possible that a tanker driver, (or maybe the instrument that calibrates the oil being delivered is not accurate) is not giving the full amount and at the price of oil nowadays we have to be very aware of this. Is there any simple way of making sure that you're getting the exact amount of oil that you ordered?

I would imagine its very easy for him to shortchange you and then at the end of the day maybe he offloads his surplus into a 'freindly' tank somewhere.......
can you not get a gauge put on your tank#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

If you don't have a gauge roughly calibrate your tank and paint the markings on the outside of the tank, (you will need to know the capacity of the tank)
Then compare these markings when you dip the tank with a long stick.
If nothing else this should put off an dishonest driver in a very rare case from trying it on.0 -
Im sure everything is electronically calibrated.
they punch in so many litres into the machine and off it goes. (Think of it like a prepay fuel pump at the garage)
Also its worth signing up to http://www.boilerjuice.com/

basically it clumps people in your postcode area togethor for better buying power.0 -
