Hi HBBBo good to see you, and also Watty and Xspender, one ex lurker. I have filled all of the envelopes except three which I have enough money to do when I get home tomorrow. The freezers are full to ridiculous levels of over flowing so just milk and fresh veg required for the next couple of weeks. It is so nice being in a virtually empty flat, major de- cluttering at the house is my next move. I seem to have acquired an awful lot of sewing machines. My big presentation at work is today, very nervous. Fingers crossed it goes well and I can leave having delivered something worthwhile.0

Thanks Gt everything went very well and that part of my working life is over, although I have agreed to go back for a few odd days for specific meetings.
My house is a disaster zone with the entire content of my flat, piled into the downstairs rooms, it is chaos with boxes, bags, rubbish sacks etc everywhere. I am trying not to feel overwhelmed and have decided to pack away my summer stuff and get out my winter clothes so at least upstairs will straight whilst I work out what is for keeping, car booting or charity bound. I am off work for a week so I plan to be sorted by Thursday to have a lovely calm and tidy week-end.0 -

Congrats on a successful presentation and now on to new things, here's to you Toots
Good luck with the tidying up ... it's good that you've got a week off, that'll help keep that overwhelmed feeling at bay, at least you can pace yourself a bit and get some me-time too.
Have you had the dreaded surveyor's report yet?
Impressed with your envelope filling BTW, I still have about 10 left to do ... I'm just putting my £1 coins in them at the moment.
Have a happy weekend ... hope the boot sale goes well. x

Hi HBBBO, still no surveyor's report I will definitely chase it tomorrow. No spending yesterday and some clearing started I am trying to unpack everything except books today. I have no shelf space which makes the books an issue. All my envelopes are filled now ready for October whenI have to save enough to get through November as I won't be paid again until the end of November. I do have 16 days leave to be paid out so that should work out OK.
I should be doing a car boot today but my niece isn't feeling very well so that has moved to a couple of weeks away - probably good as a lot of London stuff is definitely for car booting and I can get that all put into car booting crates today.0 -
HAve fun sorting
Quite therapeutic, I should think

OK have just put the dinner on and am still surrounded by stuff but I am definitely making progress, 2nd no spending day in a row. Off to York for the day tomorrow meeting friends for lunch. It will be good to get out I am "arranged out" however I have managed to unpack everything except books - but unpacked doesn't mean put away...................Still progress made.0

Surveyor's report received. I will need to do some costly repair work however first I need to find out if my house is moving........................all I can say is let's hope not but I don't think so as I haven't got a lot of cracks etc, but I do have some settlement cracks in new plaster at the top of the house so for peace of mind I will have the movement checked out. Whatever happens there is some old repair work that has been done with concrete mortar not lime mortar so the first step is to take off the concrete stuff and replace it with lime mortar to see if that helps. About to do a couple of charity shop runs to get rid of some stuff. No spending day today. Pay day tomorrow.0

Absolutely glorious day here, what a brilliant 1st October, I have paid £500 off my mortgage and stashed £2k in case I don't get paid quickly from the new job. I am going to spend most of today in the garden as it is so beautiful, this may make up for the non appearance of the builder this morning - grrrr.
Also day 1 of my £10.00 a day envelope system tres exciting for me especially as I am hoping for my 3rd no spending day in a row - and let's be clear that has never happened before. I do need the envelopes to work as I have less than £300 left in the bank for the rest of the month and not spending that will really help next month. Just put cottage pie ingredients into the slow cooker for a lovely tea, all ingredients from the freezer or cupboards. I find that good weather and not going to work is very enjoyable!0 -
OK so far the envelopes are working fine, anything unspent at the end of the day goes into a pot for paying towards the mortgage at the end of the month.
I have moved an extra £100 to the mortgage this morning as I got some forgotten expenses through from work, they also owe me for 17 days holiday which should appear in the next few days. Still unpacking boxes.........................I am aiming to have a clear living room, kitchen and one bedroom by the end of the week-end.0
