Rightyho I am going to actually USE my offset and start building up my savings. Total this month so far £1046.43. My aim is to get it to £10k by October 1. So there I have said it, now I am off to start listing on EBay. I may emerge in about a weeks time.

Seriously, don't go overboard on trying to find extra income, you're RETIRED. Remember ;).

When will I learn - there are no small shops in Waitrose, £33.49 although the four reduced pomegranates at 45p each were a bargain.

Yesterday was a no spending day, a rare and amazing event for me. Today I have to get a week-end bag (TK Maxx here I come), some compost, due to Wilkinson reneging on my order yesterday VERY annoying. I am making Morse bags for the Teds for Zimbabwe appeal that Memory Girl is organising. And the week-end is my sorting out the house week-end. No more mortgage off setting until next month, I think. But I am owed £274 in expenses from work so they should be here soon.

Hope you're enjoying a slower pace now. I'm afraid small 'top up' shops used to be a thing of the past! My mum used to write the prices on her shopping list when we were younger as budget was tight, would be interesting if she had kept a couple of those lists to compare to today.

Yes well in order to break my shopping habits I am doing one set of household tasks per day. On Saturday I defrosted the second freezer and cooked all the defrosted meat into dishes, made crumbles and pies with the remainder of last years fruit and baked cakes. I gave away the baking, pies and crumbles and am now queen of the neighbours for having provided Sunday lunch pudding for six households. I just wanted stuff gone now, partly to be ready for this summer's fruit.

Today I am making Morsbags which will clear up the mess in the dining room of cut-out bags which have been hanging around for a few weeks.

Tomorrow I am starting on a massive clear out of the sewing room.

Happy days, of not going to work but I do need to keep a handle on my spending.

Morsbags are simple but VERY dull to make, one done, five half finished. I have promised to make thirty so my new plan is to complete at least one a day, also I must not promise to make things when I don't really know what it entails, making 30 bags is zombifying. I have knitted and stuffed thirty teddies, now they need faces and scarves if it keeps blooming raining I will get onto them today. No spending day yesterday, no extra mortgage payments either. I am having a quiet week!
