Thanks Tahlullah, I am now eight weeks from retirement which feels weird and exciting in equal measure.

Quiet day today working at home preparing for a days worth of assessing various bids next week. Still no overpayments this month I am following my "pay off a lump sum at the end of each week" theory to see if that works better for me. I will see where I am on Sunday evening, with three more weeks to pay day, and hopefully should be able to transfer some money over then.

Just realised I HAVE paid £350 off the capital this month so a good way into my £1000 aim. This is my last over-payment whilst in full time employment, next month I need to spend money on getting this flat ready for renting.

8 weeks to the start of your new life.

    Bliss...

Hope you get the flat sorted!

Somehow I have injured my knee and I can't walk on it as it is so painful.
This is both worrying and inconvenient. I am going to spend a second day with my leg raised, ice etc in the hope I haven't done anything serious.

    What a waste of a week-end.

Ok, it's a mite inconvenient, but not a total waste. After all, you had previously said you need to do some knitting. What an ideal opportunity this is!

Hope it's not a serious injury and you recover soon.

So, what's happening with the chapel?

Still hopping but made it into work. On the real countdown now eight weeks to go. I am trying to work out how much work I will need to do to pay off the mortgage. Another meeting with the accountant when I can try and work out the impenitrables like tax and running a business from home.

I used to be self employed 8 to 10 years ago. I can honestly say it was not for me. I was good at it, certainly managed to eat and pay the mortgage etc, but I was one of those people that had no willpower, or interest in what I was doing to be honest. Not the job, just working. I should be on a beach being kept in a manner I want to become accustomed to.

At any given point in the day, I could be found cleaning the toilet, ironing clothes... If you watched long enough, you may have seen me retiling the roof or perhaps building a brick wall somewhere. In fact anything . I would find anything else to do rather than work. And then I would wait until the deadline, usually the evening before and then start working. Many a time have I started working at 9.30pm to deliver a piece of work at 9.00am the next day.

You are obviously more disciplined in that way than I am. I finally realised I was better in an office with other people around to distract me. Again, any excuse.

Hope everything regarding setting up your own consultancy business goes the way you want it to. That includes the purchase of the chapel, which sounds lovely. Does it come with 'change of use' so you can make it into living accommodation at some point in the future? Or is it too small for that?
