Thanks for your message TYO, I am just a bit spoiled and want everything to happen without me having to make too much effort..............

So I am getting back in to posting every day even when I have nothing to say because at least that way I will record my daily spend and that does stop me going TOO far. I am still unpacking boxes at my house but the lovely weather has moved me out into the garden where I am tidying, planting seeds and generally having a sort out. Isn't England the most beautiful place in the sunny spring?

I have bought a Heals dining table from Ebay which I need to get delivered and I am watching a suitable kitchen table. All paid for by a bit of free-lance work that I did in January. All free-lance money is for house purchases but my only urgent needs are a table and chairs everything else is "nice to have" rather than necessary to live.

My long term plans still change frequently as I waiver with what the future will be with work etc, however I think that is OK. I will make a decision after the summer. It is true that if I kept my London flat and rented it out I could have a bigger, and probably more secure pension.
But I will not be able to pay off this mortgage so quickly. I may reach the point where I do actually go to a professional for advice. And how easy will it be to get a Monday to Friday lodging in London? Decisions, decisions.

You might be surprised about the Monday to Friday lodgings. Mondaytofriday.com and spareroom.co.uk both have them.

I did advertise my room but because I'm in zone 5 no one was particularly interested... and now that I'm freelancing the spareroom has turned into an office! I'm very happy living on my own tbh.

Good luck with those goals of yours!

Hello toots, just wondering how your week is going?

Sounds like a bit of a dilemma, but a good one at that. Can you give us the 2 financial scenarios to help us give some (ill-informed) advice? Bear in mind things like capital gains tax when you sell somewhere you haven't had as your main residence for a few years.

My sister-in-law's sister has used Monday to Friday a few times and has been really happy with it and the people she has got through it.

Glad to hear you had a good holiday - and the targets look great.

    Keep posting!

I'd second sharing the financials of the two decisions, someone might be able to suggest. We have decided to keep my old home, but it is soooo tempting thinking that we would halve the mortgage on this place if we sold it. It's so so hard to know:(
    OPs so far £42,139

Hi All, I have slowed down posting due to the glorious weather, most of my last two week-ends have been spent in the garden doing tidying, planting and generally messing about. It has been lovely. I have kept to my budget but I haven't done anything extra to sort out more payments. I am enjoying finishing bits in the house too which is a relief. Only four more days before I take off the next ten days, thanks so much for that Royal wedding!

This is a long on-going lament, I need to get selling stuff on Ebay.................

Meanwhile I have put up the blinds and curtains that I made in the kitchen they look GOOD, go me.

I have cut my early morning treat to one coffee every two days, worse than cutting down on food for weight watchers.
  • Toots with ya on the need to start ebaying- altho Im not sure I have anything left worth selling! though they do say you can sell anything dont they?? :rotfl:
holiday sounds good and agree weather has been lovely!
did you get any further on decisions re: what to do with the flat?

Hi All, I am having another attempt to get back into daily posting rather than head in the sanding. I have decided to make no decisions as to my flat etc but get the mortgage down to £150k and THEN make the decision as to what happens next. Yes that is procrastinating but it feels OK for now.

I am off work this week and cleaning and sorting out my house and
garden. I am having a lovely time really enjoying getting everything sorted out to my own satisfaction. I have a list of small jobs that need doing now I am moved back in that will make my life easier. Number 1, replace my outdoor tap, I am not clear why it was taken away in the first place!

I also need to clear out the cellar and the under stairs cupboard where the builders appear to have shoved a pile of unidentified "stuff". I found my good baking tray and roasting dish in my Mums wood barn yesterday, not clear how or why but I grabbed them back.
  • Good luck with clearing the stuff out - will hopefully be a gold mine at the bottom of the rubbish. We can but hope.
Feb 2012 - onwards MF achieved
September 2016 - Back into clearing a mortgage - Was due to be paid off in 32 years in March 2047 -

Predicted mortgage clearing 03/2047 - now looking at 02/2045

Aims: 1) To pay off mortgage within 20 years - 2037

Managed to recycle cushions, recipes books, plates and bowls to my niece when she popped in yesterday to do my nails. Whilst she was here we unpacked everything in the understairs cupboard, hoovered it and put most of it back now it is clean and tidy and I know what is there which is a plus.

The builders are back today to do a load of snagging, and to do some extra bits that I need sorting out now i am actually living here. I am going out with my Mum for lunch which will be good. I am naturally very idle I love not being at work.
