Goodness, it was busy today! Loads of runners in the park and there's a Relay For Life going on at the Racecourse today. Have managed to finally complete week 7 although it has been really tough.
Only 10 weeks to go until my 8k race, wondering if I'll ever get past 25 minutes runs .
Good luck to everyone running today especially if you are raising money for charity.0 -
Week 3 run 3 done this morning. Hopefully start on week 4 come monday.0

Week 5 Run 1 done, surprised how easy i found it I expected to struggle. Only problem was my ipod playlist kept repeating the same track instead of shuffling - Doh!
Trying day 2 tomorrow.0 -
week 5 run 3 completed. My first 20 minute run in God knows how long! Maybe ever!! :j
Thought it would be tough but just kept remembering teachergirl's (and sarsief's) advice about keeping it slow, so ran very slowly, so slowly, I was probably overtaken by some elderly snails at one point and that way I comfortably got past the 10 minute mark, and after that, there was no way I was going to stop. Actually ran for a minute longer than I should have because I didn't want to stop and only stopped when I did because I was running out of path for my 5 minute cool down walk. Was cursing my route somewhat towards the end though. I run around an old reservior type thing and I seem to have planned a route that is mostly uphill - thankfully just little uphills but its amazing how daunting a wee slope can be when you're hitting that last couple of minutes.
I am now congratulating myself with some doritos and salsa. Oops. :rotfl:0 -

I was out at 6.00am today as I have lots to do this weekend. I decided to run on the opposite side of the sea inlet on the sea wall. It isn't a circular route so I decided to go for half an hour out and then half an hour back. I had to keep in zone 2 to feed my heart monitor. This now feels so slow it is comparitively easy so I did not bother with the "interval" and kept going. The route was interesting and included 4 styles. Not sure I kept up the pace over them but it added an interesting dimension to the run. Also I had to keep dodging the sheep poo. Must have a word with the farmer about going out with a few doggy bags!;) After the fourth style there were sheep as well on the path. Even with my slow running it was clear that I was quite scary as far as they were concerned and as I had been going for a good 40 minutes by then I took pity on them and turned round and came home.
So I "ran" slowly for 42 minutes non stop. Then power walked home. I still have probably an hours exercise to do to meet my heart monitors targets so I will have to try and squeeze in another walk later. Good luck to everyone running this weekend. Skintlass I shall be looking out for you post
Hi Teachergirl,
Thanks to your gentle prodding I managed to go out today and run :T - again about 25mins but I didn't get a stitch which was good (I have usually got a stitch near the end of the my runs). Its wet out here today and cool. I'm on my bootcamp training next week so will be doing all sorts of exercise but not pure running. I do like the sound of your heart monitor but as I have just discovered I am more "skint" than normal I think I'll have to do without one.Never let your sucesses go to your head and never let your failures go to your heart.:beer:0 -
skintlass and sleepytiger if only my darling son and daughter would do what I told them ,as well, life would be so much easier;)
Well done. Psychologically speaking you see, once you have done a run no matter how slow, you KNOW you can do it so you can speed up.:D
I have managed to do the extra minutes for my heart monitor so I should get my trophy again:) Skintlass you could try looking on e-bay for a second hand one. So many people start with good intentions and then give up.
Well done to everyone who has run this weekend. Think how fit we will all be for the summer.:jEnough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D0 -
Decided to go for a run today and started Week 4 completing Run 1 - first time I've run 2 days in a row!
It went very well, the middle section was a little more difficult but overall it went much better than I expected and the 5min runs and 3min runs went well.
Next run is scheduled for Tuesfinal unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -
