Hi all, havn't been out since Thursday for a run but did the 5k race for life yesterday....walked all the way as I was with my two 4 year olds and my friend with a dodgy ankle....we came last at 1hr 17 mins :rotfl: I was proud of my girls though, they did complain a bit and we did carry them now and again but they did it!!

Will be running tomorrow as DH is home now, think I will try 25 mins maybe with a rest as last time I was out, did 20 mins and I really struggled.....am seriously considering that fancy heart rate monitor...I am happy to treat myself now I have been at this lark for about 3 months now and still pretty motivated....will be soo good to have something that will show me how I am doing...

Skintlass That must have been awful for you...hope things are sorted...dogs are great for that aren't they, it always makes me sleep a bit better when I am on my own that I know my little dog barks at the slightest noise outside..

elfen/fuas we all get days like those, funny how it happens that some days just feel better than others - hope your motivation returns shortly :)

Finally dragged myself out for a run this morning after nearly putting it off until after work or tomorrow. Really glad I went as it was easier than I thought and I completed Run 1 Week 3.

Feel much better and more positive now and looking forward to the next one now

No running today as it's tipping it down and I don't have the money to buy a cheapie waterproof.

Set off last night to do my 2 mile route but about 3/4 of a mile in my ankle started feeling tight so didn't want to risk the hill and field, so turned around and jogged home, did the shortened route in 13 mins which am fairly pleased about given I know I walked more than I like to (the effects of having been lazy recently I needed to walk earlier than the last few times I've done that route), and I was taking it easy on my ankle coming back.

Thankfully it feels good today so will try the route again tonight.

Great work 69chick, i have mine on Sunday, it's the only thing keeping me going on the running at the moment to be honest - ran home after playing netball last night, skipped the 20 min run on week 5 run 3 and went to week 6 run 1. Just couldn't face running without a break (partly uphill too!), so don't know how i will go for running the whole thing!!!

fedupandskint-How fit are you! I just did week 3 run 1 and almost died...:rotfl:.

fedupandskint, just run a bit slower and you'll get through it a bit easier. I was really worried about increasing my timings in week 3 but on the advice of everyone on this thread, totally slowed down to a very slow jog and made it through .. i keep slowing down whenever i increase my minutes, have made it to 8 mins at a time now! Slow and steady, as they say!

My next run is tomorrow morning - week 6, run 2, here I come!

    Keep running! :)

Week 8 run 2 completed. Two twenty minute runs done. I was supposed to go yesterday as it is my half day but I felt really tired and just lay down on the sofa and fell asleep:o Then I had to get up to go back to work for parents evening.
Today I was at work at 7.45am and worked all day . I have been walking to work to "feed" my heart monitor but due to the rain I haven't been able to. So when I got home today I was feeling strangly lively so I went for my run. I could not believe I did it. Usually I am so tired when I get in from work:D

69chick it would be great if you did get a fancy heart monitor , we could compare notes. See who has the hardest targets etc etc but I warn you it's really addictive.

sarsief I hate hills too. I don't know if it's of any use to you but on my podcast they have advice about running up hills this week. The trick is, (apparently) to not to try and keep the same pace but to keep your heart working at the same level.(ie boring boring but slow down) Also not to lean into the hill but to remain upright.

Well done to everyone who is running.:)
Enough money to live on so retired early...planning to see where life takes me:D

I bought a heart monitor today from Mr T's for £19.99 - just their basic one so will be setting up ready for later - plus don't know really what it involves so will be having a read of the instructions

Will be doing Run 2 Week 3 tomorrow - yes really really will be and won't back out of it

Didn't have a good day today. I'm doing week 7 and managed my 25min run on Monday but just couldn't do it today. Was feeling very tired before I even started and stopped after 10 mins. Did a little bit of jogging but mainly walking for 1 hour round the lake instead of turning back.
I'm going to have a break for a couple of days to rest and see how it goes on Saturday.
I'm soooo tempted to get a heart rate monitor but I must tell myself to conserve the pennies, maybe later in the year.
