pinksleepytiger thanks for the advice but don't worry I have no intention of letting BG anywhere near them. As it is the BG man did not turn up today...he was off sick apparently! Got a friends BIL to go round to give a quote and hopefully he will do it next week. As the BG man actually cut through the pipe I would have to pay for a repair anyway......rant rant.

Back to the running. fedupandskint if you are finding it really tough then slow your running down. You need to build up your stamina first, the speed can come later. You WILL get there.:)

Nice to have you back skintlass and mumto2 been wondering where you are.:)

Now DREA have you finished supervising yet? Three threads you've started;);););)

My next run is tomorrow but the forecast is for 29 degrees:eek:

I am taking it slowly when I run and if I have more energy I'm speeding up for the intervals - not much today tho!

The good thing is not one bit of achiness at all so far and I'm very pleased with how it's going and don't mind it taking time and not starting at too high a level and then crashing and burning and giving up

Going to do Day 3 tomorrow morning I think and then start Week 3 on Sunday

Wow sorry fedupandskint when you said you were finding it tough I thought you meant you ached. If you don't ache you are doing really fabulously:D

Week 4 run 5 completed this morning. Accidentally hit forward on my mp3 player halfway through my run and couldn't find the place again, so ended up accidentally running longer than normal - did 3, 5, 5, 5 and although I was seriously out of breath by the end, I did it. One more week4 run then onto week 5 next week.

Well done all those running, has been a bit cooler her, but still quite 'close' even with a bit of rain...

At the moment I am still running 3 times a week, on about wk 10 I think from when I began, but I tend to do the wk 5 run 3 (20 mins) or a couple of times I have done the wk 6 run of 25 mins, today I did 20 mins, but I am still struggling...

I am managing to do it but to be honest most of the time I am running I am sort of aching all over and my body seems desperate to stop, I am pushing myself to do it as I know I can and I know I will be fine later, but it worries me that I am not really enjoying it whilst running......can any of you that are regularly doing this and more tell me if it really gets any easier on the body? or if they experience this? I don't want to get to the point where I don't want to go out as running has helped me in lots of ways.....mainly my mood and also (sorry tmi alert) my monthly cramps are miles less (a bonus I wasn't expecting and was almost immediate!!)

I could go back to having some walking stops, eg 10 min run 3 min walk x 2 (or could try 3 lots I guess) but it sort of feels like failing to stop now I have done the 20-25 minutes.....

Does anyone get where I am coming from :rotfl:

    Sorry for the rambling :p

Hope you get your parents boiler sorted soon teachergirl, that's really not on

hi 69chick I sort of know where you are coming from. I would love it if I got up and felt woopie I am going to run today. Most of the time I can think of a thousand reasons why I shouldn't but really only one why I should and that is because I need to get fit. Usually this wins. Like you hormonally it has really made things better but there are still some days when I just cannot run. Usually for me if I have to run later in the day when I am just too tired. The aching for me has actually got much better, especially on the days when I bother to do my stretches;) I run really really slowly and have only just now started to pick up speed because I knew I needed to build up my stamina.
Also for me it has helped to change the programme. I completed the couch to 5k but I wouldn't really say I was solid in it if you know what I mean. However I like new things so the gateway to 8k which started with less running was good because I went back to intervals again. Because I listen to the podcasts I never know what is coming up so it keeps it interesting. I hate the music, the first 2 or 3 of G28k are like random noises but it does get better. I feel fabulous when I get back from my run but actually getting out there in the first place is the hardest bit.;) Hope this makes sense.Think I might have rambled on too.

How did you change your name, Schoolhouse. Did you have to go through the admin team or can you do it yourself?
    Now proud Mumto3 :j

Mumto2- There is a forum help logo towards the top of the page, if you click on that it gives you the email address to contact them with. I just gave my reason and and alternative username. It was done 2 days later.

I am going for my week 2 run 3 this morning. No proper time this weekend as working both days. I know what I'm like, I'll get home from work and be tired and unmotivated to go running so best run this morning.

Hope you get a fair qoute teachergirl.

Gosh guys, I am exhausted! I've been walking home almost every night in this lovely weather, and pushing myself in my runs. After panicking that I may not be able to do my 5K run on the 18th only running, I have pushed straight into week 5 ... and struggled big time!! I am going to go onto run 2 which is 8 minute intervals tomorrow and I'm really not looking forward to it - I think this is part of my battle, am trying to be more mentally positive and tell myself I can do it .. but I'm a bit like 69chick and teachergirl ... I really have to talk myself into going for all the right reasons. I find it too easy to talk myself out of it!!!

Yesterday I was determined not to go in the morning - but then i told myself that i had to do it that day, it was either morning or night .. so eventually I got up and went out. Did not enjoy it and felt so lethargic most of the day. I'm running so slowly too, trying to build up stamina. But in the end glad i did it in the morning as it was too warm last night (and meant i could walk home again!). Really concentrating on my breathing - are there any tricks to help not run out of breath so quickly? Yesterday my legs were aching too - I just don't think it was my day and quite pleased that I made it through.

I think I need new shoes as have blisters everywhere. I only got mine in January and they are already shot to bits - is this usual? I would have thought they would last longer, they are asics and the last pair of asics i had lasted 2.5 years (although I didn't run in them).

9 sleeps til my big race - then I'll need another thing to motivate me!

Hehe, just re-read and tis a bit of a rant, so sorry! :) It's really great to read everyone elses stories - think I would have given up ages ago if it weren't for this forum. :)
