Morning everyone. It is just after 9.30 and already 30 degrees in my garden. Thankfully I went for my run at 7.20am. I would have been earlier but my DS worked a 12 hour shift yesterday on work experience just to see what it would be like and then DH forgot to get him up whilst I was walking the dogs. So we all had to rush around like madmen to ensure he was out of the house in time to get the first of his two buses.(the joys of motherhood;))
Anyway I was so cross that my run was nearly sabotaged again(see Tuesdays rant) that it really kept me going for the first two 15 minute intervals. The last 15 minute interval was really tough though because it was beginning to get SO hot. I kept saying to myself it's the last one,it's the last one and I made it:j:j:j This is despite a small puppy on it's lead tripping me up in it's enthusiastic welcome of anyone passing.(mind you the only reason I carrried on after picking myself off the floor is it would have just been too embarassing to admit I wasn't a super duper fit jogger!:o) 7.3K done again. I would never have believed this when I started.

69chick whilst I was running I was working out how far I had got the last time before I got my one minute interval and was just trying to beat that. It keeps it interesting.

schoolhouse. Thank you. yes I think the quote is very reasonable. It is £500 less than I paid in December last year. My house is bigger so I think that this is very fair. I am just hoping he can sqeeze them in next week.

sarsief nice to hear from you again. I have taken up doing a lot of extra walking too , to help with my stamina. The blisters sound dreadful. No wonder you don't want to run.

I think running is a bit like labour, you sort of forget the pain when you are finished and rested :rotfl::rotfl:

Thanks for your comments teachergirl and sarsief, you might be right teachergirl about the motivation of doing the gateway to 8k..although I don't know the distance I am doing and am worried at the moment that it isn't that far...dh thinks I am maybe covering 2 miles....what I want to do is get one of those heart rate monitors that does programmes and stuff,so as I am moving a long way in 2 weeks time I am going to wait till then to get myself sorted....I will have a 5k parkrun near my new address so might think about doing that (although I am worried as I am pretty sure I couldn't run 5k!)

I really do get great benefits from running I just think that the 'couch' part of me is still trying to get with the program :D

It is pretty cool weatherwise here but I understand some parts of the country are getting mega temperatures, so any runners going out, make sure you drink plenty of fluids!

Of course you can cover 5k, 5k=3miles so not that much further than you're already covering.

I've found a parkrun near where I'm planning to move so hope I'll be able to get to it once I start working.

well done to all those people who have run today. sarsief you shouldn't get blisters and your shoes should last longer than that. Try going to a running store and getting properly fitted, it makes a difference. I use Saucony shoes and when I feel they're too worn to run in (they lose their bounce and my shins start to hurt) I use them for walking the dog. They last years that way.

Completed Week 2 Day 3 this morning - was warm, went well and still recovering. My speed improved throughout the intervals which I noticed this morning

    Onto Week 3 next week

I don't think I'll be running in the morning as been up all night due to some !!!!!! putting a brick through my back patio doors. Had the police who couldn't understand it as its a nice area and the man from the boarding up company round. Luckily my dog went ballistic when they smashed the glass.

skintlass poor poor you it must have been so scary. I hope you managed to get back to sleep Don't let it spoil your Sunday.:grouphug:

Today I decided to move straight onto week 8 despite not having run on Tuesday because two twenty minute runs sounded so much better than three 15 minute runs;) However because I didn't run on Tuesday I still had some time to make up in zone 2 to hit my targets for my polar monitor. This meant I had to run really slowly. So by the time I had hit my targets and done the two twenty minute runs I still had some energy left. So I moved my I pod back and did a final ten minute run at speed. This means I actually ran for a whole hour. With just three minutes walking:j

69chick if you can afford it get a heart monitor that sets personal targets for you according to how fit you are...I find this has really helped with my motivation as well.

It is already 29 degrees here but today at least we have a breeze.

Well done to fedupandskint and elfen :)

Hi teachergirl. Thanks for the good wishes. It was scary last night, now I'm just annoyed. I got very little sleep and have swept up a lot of glass. Your running seems to be coming along great so really well done for that. The heart monitor sounds interesting which model did you get?
