Hope you feel better Louise!
Week 2 Run 2 completed today, the stats are SO much better than Sunday's which I am glad about. Actually feel now like week 3 with 3 mins running is totally do-able.
Once I manage Run 1 the rest of week seems fine because I know I've done it once so I can do it again. Even if at 5am it's the last thing I want to be thinking about!0 -
Thanks Gonzo and well done on your progress! You've got a fantastic mindset

I DID IT! Week 9 Run 3 yesterday!!
Proper sense of achievement. If I can do this anyone can.
I don't think I'll ever love running and I certainly haven't been bitten by the running bug - but I'll be keeping up 15-20 minute runs as an addition to my weightlifting.
Hurrah! Champers all round and all that

Choosing a different exercise on your rest days is very sensible but please do also remember to have rest days for the same reasons. You don't want to open yourself up to all sorts of injury potential or burn out.
Don't get your hopes up too much on losing weight by running. Many people, myself included, have been surprised, with a little research to find it is not a guaranteed at all and you have to reach much longer faster running fitness before it really affects weight. I would recommend you measure yourself all over and look for inches lost rather than on the scales to avoid disappointment. But otherwise, exercise will be very good for your heart etc and for toning.
Well done for completing week 1:T
Well...I was really saying I was going to do as many running/jogging sessions as I could possibly fit in! But I totally get what you are saying. I did Friday, Monday and Tuesday and was planning on doing today and Thursday too. I may just go on the bike or cross-trainer (although I can't seem to be able to do this for more than 10 mins max) instead. I'm still kinda hoping I will get a decent amount of weight loss - I have 60lb minimum to lose (seriously!!) so hoping weight loss will be a bit easier than if I wasn't needing to lose much and I have been watching what I'm eating although not as much as I could I suppose. Although I'll not actually know how much weight I'm losing as I can't bear to weigh myself. Think I'll wait until my current pair of gym joggers are too big for me.0 -

You should be doing weights and/or resistance training to maximise thiscardio is not the best thing for weight loss, it builds a lot of stamina though and is good when mixed with a strength work to keep the metabolism going!
Thanks for the kind words everyone. If someone had told me 9 weeks ago I could run 3.5k (or half an hour) I'd have fallen over laughing. It's achievable, and you will ALL do it

Well done HBS!
I skived off Monday, I'd had a trying day and just couldn't make myself get into the idea of going at all. I'm going to try to at least go for the other two days though.
I did go back on Map My Run and attempt to put in my usual route to see how long it was. Discovered I had to untick a box and then it would let me go where there were not roads marked on it. At a rough estimate I have been doing about 4km in the 30 minutes at the moment, so I should easily be able to get up to 5km before long.
I'm having a problem with not feeling like I'm progressing any more. When I was doing the plan I would even notice Run 3 was easier than Run 1 of a week, but now all my 30 minute runs are still just as hard as they were before.0 -
Thanks CoC.
Agree with 30min runs just always feeling hard - I had that from week 7 onwards, I think sheer bloodymindedness carried me through weeks 8 and 9.
I am sure it will get easier after a whileremember that you are running further than before though!

Great work HBS it's a great achievement! :j
I agree with you thirty minutes three times a week still seems quite impossible to me. I'd happily settle for 20 minutes at a time, mostly as I find it easier to fit in as I have to drive to my start point I need to allow close to an hour to do a 30 minute run with five minutes walk at each end.Mortgage
