Well I'm sitting here with a huge big grin on my face at 8 o'clock on a Sunday morning :D. Just completed first run of week 9!! Woke up to a lovely sunny morning, though very cold (about 1 degree C) and thought I should just go for it. No wind for a change so I think that made it easier.

HBS - sorry to hear about your injury. I hope it gets better quickly so you can get back running again. Must be very frustrating.

Glad to see everyone else is still going strong. We can all meet up at the Edinburgh marathon next year :D. (I'll be spectating!!)
  • Well done Jacky, I should have done my first attempt at week 9 yesterday but had a busy day and other commitments which left me feeling a bit lazy and delicate today. I had a little bit more to drink than I have in a long time and had to have a lie down this afternoon. :(

Hope to get out again on Tuesday.

  • Well I managed to participate with my squad in today's cheer practise so I'm going to try a run tomorrow :)

  • Glad you're feeling better heartbreak_star. I meant to pop on and say I did week 8, run 2 on saturday. Finishing week 8 today - the weeks have flown by so quickly!

  • Hi all,

I have been reading some posts on here and have to say I found them all very inspiring! Last year I did race for life and gave up jogging straight after it, which was a very stupid thing to do and am now finding myself back at square 1. I am currently on week 2 and due to do my week 2 day 2 tomorrow. Will try and come on here often to keep myself motivated! X

We all need to have lazy days sometimes. Mine is tomorrow when I go out for dinner with a friend instead of running. I plan to run again on Thursday then final run on Sunday.

Now trying to decide what to do next. Don't want to stop when I'm enjoying myself so much.

Welcome Louise, I'm sure you'll quickly get back into the swing of things. It's been very motivating here for me. Very useful to hear from others who are going through the same pain (and pleasure :rotfl:)

Welcome Louise, you'll be back up to speed in no time!

Jacky, we might finish at the same time this weekend. I was looking for excuses not to go out today; still feeling a bit under the weather and its been kind of warm and humid but finally I forced myself out of the door. Only to arrive at my start point and find that I haven't got Week 9 Podcast on my i-pod.

Never mind, I did Week 8 and started off a little bit earlier before Laura said to run and ran a minute or so longer at the end. I reckon, truth be told, I probably ran 29 minutes but who's counting, I'm still claiming it as first attempt at Week 9!! :D

I also stumbled a bit towards the end and really thought I was going to go smack down on the pavement right beside a guy running in the opposite direction. I managed to correct myself and stopped myself from falling but did twist my ankle quite a bit.

  • Welcome Louise and good luck with your week 2 :)

Did week 8 run 3 last night - fastest pace yet (avg 12:11 min/mile). Still slow but getting better. Will consciously not focus on speed for the next run though as I had a stitch at the end of last night's run and would really have struggled to run another 2 mins.

Will start week 9 on Wed or Thurs, depending when I have time, then do another run on Saturday. Can't believe I should be finishing week 9 next Monday - the time has really flown in!

  • Back on the wagon but with a huge crisis of confidence - last night's run was a near-disaster!

Took it very slow as ankle still tender, but really didn't want to go and thought about stopping all the way through :( Sheer hatred pushed me through the last 5 mins and I cried afterwards, I was ready to pack it in.

I won't - because I don't want to quit - but it has knocked me for six. Guess I'm just not very good at taking a bad workout in my stride.
