Was that last night? I always go first thing in the morning when it's nice and quiet.

It was this evening (different time zone :D) - I'm so not a morning person and have got into a good routine of going early evenings before dinner.

Are you having enough rest between runs? Sometimes you have to listen to your body telling you it doesn't want to run today.

Well done on your 25 minute run. :T I have been having rest days every other day and run usually on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday with a two day gap Sunday and Monday. I can feel that the 3 x 25 minutes already done this week have taken it out of me and my body is very tired. I will wait til Tuesday and try again.

  • Well, as I suspected, I didn't make it out yesterday but after a lovely and much needed long lie in and breakfast in bed, I went out this lunchtime and did run 2 week 2. Very pleased with myself.
I'm not finding this stage too difficult (though always pleased to stop :D)
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

My week is all going to be turned upside down and so cannot fit in my usual weekly routine. I had planned to run today (Monday), Wednesday and Saturday; except today I was still not feeling strong enough to attempt another 25 minute run and fear of almost certain failure was getting to me more than anything. So as disappointing as it is, I decided to start on Week 6 Run 1 again.

Please don't be disappointed with yourself. Look what you're doing now compared to just a few weeks ago. You're doing great .

I don't think it's important to stick to the 9 weeks. I must have been going about 11 or 12 weeks and I'm now doing week 7. Some weeks I've just not felt fit enough to follow the programme so just did some different exercise instead.

I ran outside again yesterday morning. I love Sunday mornings with nobody else about. Especially since I had only just got started on the warm up and looked down and realised I had put my jogging trousers on inside out :rotfl:. I carried on anyway - don't think anyone noticed!

Thanks Jacky_f, I think my biggest concern is that I have been here before. Having got to the end of Week 6 a couple of months back I started to flunk out of some runs and then totally lost my confidence and the will to carry on, so I started again.

Can you please tell me which app to use?
  • Trisha - I use the one from the NHS website simply because it's free :)

On my last run of week 7 tomorrow - finding it very hard going but am getting through it which is great. Always scared of failing a run so trying to keep positive - even half a week 7 run is amazing compared to what I could do a few weeks ago!

Keep it up everyone, you are all awesome!

TrishaM - I just used the NHS one that you can download for free from iTunes.

HBS - well done! Don't be scared you'll fail, just don't give up thinking you can't go on, because you can definitely do it! You're certainly not going to fail at tomorrow, you've already done it twice!

I'm soooo not going for a run tonight, I've lost my voice! Yes, I know I don't run with my voice :D, but I want to try and get my throat/this cough a bit better before I go out again. I'm thinking I'll just do the week 9 podcast again a couple of times, then put together a playlist of my own music to use in future when I've got time this weekend. I'm planning on sticking with doing half an hour and trying to get faster for now, then somehow I'll have a look at how far I'm running and see if I've got up to 5km yet.

How does everyone else know how far they've run for? I tried MapMyRun, but got in a strop with it because the routes I use aren't on it, so that's no good.
  • I admit to doing mine on a treadmill so that tells me *chuckles*

Over the whole podcast for week 7 I average about 3.4ish km, so am probably going to do the same when I finish week 9 :)

    Get well soon CoC!

With mapmyrun you can put in your own routes though - that s what I have done, both with ones I have already done and ones I plan to do s I can get an interesting route for longer runs.

Or do you mean you run in the middle of nowhere so the map just doesn't cover the area?
