Couch to 5k Running - Part Three

Good work Jacky and HBS, we're starting to clock up many hours of running between us. I just did my Week 6 Run 2 :T
25 minutes of running is indeed proper running Jacky - the last time I ran for that long would have been when I was at school, some decades ago. On the last few minutes of tonight's run, when I was really flagging, I was overtaken by a guy who would have to be pushing seventy - it soon made me pick up my step. :rotfl:Mortgage

I don't think I've ever run for 25minutes. I used to slack at school after 10 - always hated running!

I hated all PE in school, it's only since I've left I've discovered there are types of exercise I at least don't mind! If only we could have done that sort of thing I might not have been put off exercise as much, it was all just team sports which I hate and am terrible at.
Some man made a comment at me taking the mick when I went past him yesterday. I was a bit put out at first, but then I thought at least I'm trying to do exercise, whereas he was fat, grubby, looked as if he probably smelled and had missing teeth. I win!0 -
Must have been the day for it - three guys who looked like they'd been hit in the face with something heavy and flat laughed at me on the treadmill and said "look at the state of that". But hey, I'd just come from a productive gymnastics session so BAH to them!

Hi all, haven't posted on here for a while. Have tried to speed up and manged to do a few 30 min jogs at 7k, today I was determined to go for distance and do my 5k. I dropped the speed back to 6.5k (what I was jogging at before) and went for it.
I amazed myself  I ran for a whole hour and did 6.5k and I could have carried on but decided not to as I didn't want to push it too far! I am still seriously overweight and if I can do this - anyone can! Good luck to all those who are still going!0 -
Chickvic that's amazing! Well done!
Week 9 starts next week, can't believe I've got this far thinking back to the start. I couldn't even jog for 3 minutes at once then, now I'll be doing 30! Hope I can keep up the running after I've finished the plan, I think I might be best able to keep to things when there's a plan to work through and something I'm working towards.0 -
Great stuff, I know how you all feel, I am absolutely beaming after having done Week 6 Run 3. I was just so thoroughly amazed with myself, despite being a bit sick and having antibiotics, I felt so strong and at ease at the start of the run and settled into a pace where I felt I could just run and run. I didn't feel quite like that at the end, mind!
Seems I 'only' have to put in a repeat performance and do the same again three times this week. :eek:Mortgage

It's great to see everybody doing so well . I've not started week 7 yet but I was out hillwalking yesterday and I can definitely tell the difference in my fitness when going uphill. I can actually walk and talk at the same time and I'm not last to get to the top :j.0

Week 7 Run 1 Done - I was convinced I wasn't going to get past half way and was so close to stopping for a walk, I found it really hard going and it wasn't pretty. My legs totally turned to jelly at the end.
Seems very odd to think there are no more intervals and from now on it's just running and more running. :eek:Mortgage

I'm thinking of joining a gym to do this. I don't fancy doing it outside because of people looking at me. I've been doing some exercise at home so I am hopeful that it will give me a bit of a head start. I am aiming to do a 5 k run next year so by starting now I should be ready.0
