Couch to 5k Running - Part Three

Yay you ladies really went for it, t:beer: well done! The hardest part is actually getting up off your butt and having the courage to do the first run.
I did my second run of Week 3 and just about nearly died in the last few moments of the second three minute run, but I knew I would be really peed off with myself if I didn't complete it. So I staggered on!
I'm sure it wasn't pretty but I made it and felt so pleased with myself afterwards for fighting it. I thought my chest was going to burst though and it took me ages to get my breath back. :eek:Mortgage

I am also lucky to live 3 mins walk from a park so can run on grass, there was a cricket match on last night when I went out so I tried to keep to the areas where none of the spectators would be able to see me. Will have to to be very brave on Weds though DS is at a sports club, I have to stay with him due to his age but there is a running track nearby which I will be able to use  and still see him.
I used to be really scared about people seeing me but now I can run with a bit of style (am I kidding) I don't feel too bad, also there's not much traffic so not many people to see me.
The good thing about hills though is that even though you have to run up them, the run down the other side is nice.
I'm sure you will be fine on Wednesday on the running track, don't forget to lean forward, like they do at the Olympics, when you get to the finish line

I agree, it's getting your kit on and doing it that's the hardest part.
Even when I was at school many moons ago I couldn't run, I was always last in cross country and my PE teacher even reported me to my parents for not trying - I was, just I wasn't any good at it. I've never been able to run, until now. Initially when I started going on the treadmill to lose weight, I started with interval training and could only manage to run for 30 seconds (yes seconds) before I was gasping for air with a stitch in my side. I then thought I'd give it a go at doing the C25K and that's what has led me to progress to running for 20 mins at a go, I'm no sprinter but I'm out there doing it.
If I can do it, you can too, it does get easier. I read lots of posts of people when I was doing the early weeks and didn't really believe them when they said it would but believe me, it does, in fact I really enjoyed last night's run (I can't believe I just wrote that ha ha).
Good luck with your training, keep us updated.

I did my second run if you could call it that I was on the last running bit and someone overtook me walking! In my defence they were walking at a fair pace but even so I just hope no one saw it. I have visions of it appearing on you tube lol
How fast does everyone go on the walking sections it says to brisk walk but all I can manage is a slow walk.0 -

I am usually driven by the music and I find that does naturally help to lift up the pace and make the walking more energietic and purposeful than my usual walking speed.

well done everyone, it's nice to hear how you are all getting on. As has been said sometimes it is getting off your behind that is the hardest thing!
Iammumtoone - I run twice in the week and then do a long walk at the weekend with OH, usually about 8 miles. For me it has to fit in otherwise I wouldn't do it and twice a week will still be good for you! I use the NHS podcasts and go to the gym on Tuesday and Thursday straight from work. I have been doing wk1 for a couple of weeks due to knee pain but I am going to try moving up to wk2 on Thursday! - get me!
Happy running this week everyone - you know we all feel better afterwards, and justifiably proud :T2019, move forward with positivity! I am the opposite of Eyeore :rotfl:0 -

Thankyou, we have dried out now
This programme really does work, dd was crying and struggling at the 8 minute runs, I'm very proud of her for not giving up.
Starting to think about entering runs :eek:Life is short, smile while you still have teeth0 -
A whole twenty five minutes of running really does not bear thinking about, so well done Pink and your DD that's amazing!! :T
The weeks certainly do turn around very fast though, I have just done my third run of week three, so it's onwards and upwards to week four on Thursday.
It seems totally impossible that a week ago I was fretting about moving on to week 3 - still tonight I had to force myself to keep putting one foot in front of the other for the last minute but I felt like I was at a more comfortable pace and I recovered my breath much quicker than I did on Saturday.
Keep on trucking ladies!Mortgage
