Hello all - have been seriously dilinquent on the posting front! My job has been hellish for a bit, and looks like it will stay that way for a bit. However, staying in the office until 8-9pm every night has helped with the NSDs! Updating my sig now :)

:rotfl: I'm really NOT an organised person at all. This is just a case of having run out of freezer/cupboard space and grocery budget, so an essential 'chore'

CW You are soooo organised, I haven't a clue what's in the bottom of the freezer, could be megolithic remains for all I know, its the spreadsheet thats doing it, no surprises in your house as to what's for dinner. I defrosted what I thought was chicken for a stirfry last night, turned out to be pork!!! Called it chicken stir fry surprise:o:o:o

Good morning all, have decided that DS will give martial arts class a miss today as he has homework to finish off before school on Monday. So, this might be a NSD after all......watch this space!

My rules for NSD's, by the way, are that I ignore my regular bank payments - but include every other penny I spend no matter what it is for - and hubbie is doing it with me so his spends count for me too
We do this too 3dogs, so getting to 20 NSDs last month was quite a feat for us both!! We still went over GC spending-wise :(, but have cut down drastically on all our other spending. :T

Not sure if today will be an NSD or not. DH has taken DS2 to his College Open Day this morning (he starts in September). DH plans on only staying the morning, but DS2 is muttering on staying longer. They have taken nibbling supplies etc (DS2 is diabetic), but nothing for lunch, hopefully they will be coming home for that!! It would be good if I can get some help in the garden this afternoon too. At least it isn't as hot today.

Now to my amazing news....got a letter from HMRC this morning. I had asked for a rebate as I was off ill for more than 15 months this and last year and had paid some tax during the year. I had asked for about £800 (nice)...but got a cheque this morning ....for over £4000!!:eek::eek:.

I am still reeling, and convinced they have made a mistake!! I will wait for the letter showing the calculations to arrive before I am convinced I am really due this amount!!

When DS2 said "oh you're rich now mum", I replied: "no, we are just less poor!!".

Still, it does mean we can pay off one credit card, and pay reasonable amounts to the interest-free one....might even get this one paid off in 15 months time ;).

Then it will "only" be the mortgage to clear. :o

So off to pot up some chillies in the greenhouse...though I may have to do it outside if it gets any warmer!

If DH & DS2 do spend some money today, I will ask them to stop off and get some icecream for tea...we should celebrate a bit tonight!!

    Have a great weekend everyone...I still can't stop smiling...:D.

If your taxable income for the 2009/10 tax year was less than £6475, then your rebate should be for every penny of tax you'd paid in that period - unless you'd been back at work long enough before tax year end for them to sort it out through PAYE.

Given we're only a couple of months into the 2010/11 tax year, I'm guessing you were off for part of the 2008/09 tax year as well - so if you were off for the last month (or more) and not receiving full pay as sick pay, then you'll be due a rebate for that year too.

I still have to pick at the contents of tubs to see whether the dark bits are mushrooms (spag bol) or kidney beans (chille) :rotfl:

And the chicken/pork is one I've been caught out with before rolleyes.gif That's one reason I've started to freeze cooked pork as slices, and cooked chicken as full breasts or diced up.......

One of these days I'll actually find a way of labelling the stuff that doesn't come off in the freezer, but will come off when I want to reuse the bags/tubs ;)

Thanks for the info cw, I was off work from December 2008 until March this year...I got occupational sick pay until July 2009...didn't sign on after that as had hoped to get back in the August/September...but depression and further illness kicked in...and never got around to it.
    Still awestruck by it all!

Masking tape! You can write on it, wrap it around a few times & it peels off easily when needed.

Having to share poota-time so v.limited but still reading if not posting. Having poota probs A-gain doesn't help either
