Hi Spoon, I guess a loaf of bread isn't too bad but i'm determined to make my NSD's totally free of spending. Nothing at all, except of course something in an emergency. If i allow myself to think that i can buy 'certain' things, then i can (believe me, I REALLY can) justify buying more!! :rotfl:

Just had a doh moment, decided to add some porridge oats to the chilli bolognese we're having for tea and the bag tipped out about twice as much as I needed, so we're having chilli boloridge, some salad and mozzarella on top and I'm hoping DH won't notice, could be worse I guess.
Have a good night & weekend everyone!

    Herby x

Just a thought Herbie, have you tried jumbo oats? They're bigger than porridge oats and totally indistinguishable from the mince once cooked. I've been doing this ever since my kids were in nappies I had no option back then. (My son is in his 30s now) and nobody has ever said yuk there's oats in here no matter how heavy handed I get.

BTW Herby how do you get 5 nsd in june when it was only the 4th yesterday???

Well done Geebee, I understand totally. I don't include any DD or SO from my bank account I do count anything else so yes loaf of bread or a pint of milk would count in my book. Still this is my first month too so who am I to say what is right or wrong. We all make our own rules.

Anyhow, I am joining a gym today to help recuperate from my knee op so I'm going to count that as a DD (It will go out monthly) So I've got my water bottle in the fridge ready to go and a cereal bar from my store cupboard so I'm hoping I can resist and make today another nsd.

I would like to join in and wonder if I could manage 8 NSDs . I already had one yesterday.

I am very lucky as I only live a short bike ride from work and can come home to eat at lunchtime.

:jcw18: yay - well done for no 3 - brilliant start to the month.
I see the milk monster has been at work again!

Well, it has been half-term, so he's been at home more (meaning reaching into the fridge more as well). And it's the only grocery item he does raid, so it could be a lot worse :)

Roll on Monday for college re-opening, but unfortunately I don't think he has to go in for many more lectures now (and only another 14 days or so until his last assignment has to be in). Then I've got him home F/T until early September

Good luck with your meal planning, I will say again that you are incredibly organised, puts me to shame..
Out of interest, I've just been through my stock-take spreadsheet counting up how many 'meat portions' I have in my freezer (roasts, pies, chops, fish, portions of sausages etc)...... and it's coming in at a staggering 285 !!!!!!

And that's before I even start on the tinned tuna etc in my cupboards, and allow for using scraps off things to make up other meals (like the bits from a gammon joint and a turkey joint to make up a rissotto) or the bacon for things like spaghetti carbonara, or the many packets of mushroom rissotto (courtesy of App F00ds).

With just 209 days left in the year (of which I don't expect to have DS2 here for more than 13 weeks/91 days, and very little of DS1 home on leave at all), I guess I [strike]should[/strike] need to stop buying ANY meat or pies for the rest of the year.........

Hi all - well Friday I had to spend to travel to have a health screen done (all good - I'm apparently the healthiest person the screener had seen for months - 100/70 blood pressure, yay!) and today I have a guitar lesson and need to buy food, but Sunday should be a no spend day, all being well :)

I don't currently count any DD or SO from my bank as a 'spend'. Within this category I also exclude some cash payment items (presents, petrol, dog expenses and vet bills, window cleaning) - but I'm considering including these from next month (certainly going to from October when I've only got myself to cater for, as I'm happy to eat whatever's in - even if it means chicken and fish for an entire week ;) )

I also exclude expenses for my garden (tidying up in general, plus trying to start f&v production - so hopefully it'll pay back for itself in the long run), or my 'social life' (paid for with what I earn by working extra hours - I even track my pay by what I'd get on basic hours and what I actually get, so that I know where I'm fixed with this one).

:rotfl: I'm really NOT an organised person at all. This is just a case of having run out of freezer/cupboard space and grocery budget, so an essential 'chore'
