Good morning! Bit of a late entrant for June, but if I get it written down, I'll be more determined to stick to it and force a few NSDs out of this month!

Could you put me down for 12 please?!

Jinty fancy you living in Portobello, why is it called that, is it something to do with the Spanish Armada, thinking back to my student days, sure that came up somewhere.

Stonehenge sounds good, no chaffing but I'm not sacrificing Hubert, and no I'm not a candidate either..............

I got this email via Just for the love of it. I thought it may interest others. It does say feel free to pass info around.

    Hello,

I am writing in order to invite you to take part in A DAY WITHOUT MONEY; d'you like the sound of it? Note down then, Battersea Park 06/06/2010 . I have explained below what the whole thing is about, feel free to pass the word around! ;-)

And if you want to get involved in any ways, just come on the day or drop us a line to daywithoutmoney@googlegroups.com.

The global pic-nic for degrowth idea was accepted at the second conference on degrowth and social justice in Barcelona in March 2010. There will be pic-nics held by different degrowth groups around the world; in Europe, most capitals will be having one.

In London this will be happening on 06/06/2010 at Battersea Park, just at the heart of the city. Why a picnic? Because change always starts with a nice chat around a good dinner! Because it’s a good excuse to get together, and we have also planned it to be “a day without money”.

    WHAT WILL BE HAPPENING?

PICNIC4DEGROWTH: An opportunity for exchange of thoughts and ideas, around nice food with even nicer people. A couple of things to note:
Please bring your own cutlery & crockery
Bring enough to feed yourself and one more, three people the most. That way we will reduce left-overs.
If you do make something fabulous, do bring along the recipe to share.
Please be aware of peoples dietary requirements.
Also, please note: whatever you bring with you, you need to take away too. We will bring some bin bags, but please clean up after yourselves.

SWAPing- There are many things that we can swap, in fact the actual money based system it was originary just another way of exchange. We will be swapping tangible and intangible things: books, clothes, songs, poems, languages, drawings, food, hugs... whatever you have to offer, you can try to swap it for something else.

Remember to check before coming, as we all do have things we no longer need that might be what someone else is just looking for at the moment!

TALKS- We will also have an opportunity to listen to stories of people who are involved in projects tp make possible that simple living. If you are one of those people, and want to tell your story DROP US A LINE telling a bit about it, and will get you in the schedule.

    OTHER ACTIVITIES- games, workshops, music...

A complete day without money is waiting in partnership with the Picnic4Degrowth.

    Hope to see you there!

    Best,
    nai

Love the picnic for degrowth. Shame I am nowhere near Battersea!

Just wanted to share a mini triumph. Yesterday and today were down to be NSDs but yesterday my telly broke!!!!! I live alone and recently broke up so really didn't want to deal with the isolation! Anyway, put word out at work and someone oh-so-kindly brought one round for me this very morning!

Sometimes the World is not such a bad place!!!

MoneyPenny, are you going to the picnic?

Morning peeps, just checking in to report my NSD yesterday taking my total up to 4 now, still got 24 days to go to the end of my budget so I should manage 14 easily. Still feeling a little raw and teary but I'm trying to remember all the fun times but boy do I miss the furry faced cuddles. Moving swiftly on before I start blubbing again....

Stonehenge sounds fun, my dragon is up for the trip and I think I can rustle up a star child hippy outfit without too many problems, although I'm notifying you all now that I'm not a candidate for a virgin sacrifice :rotfl:

Katenut I have an old handwritten journal that belonged to DH's grandparents it has some old honey mead recipes such as Peach Mead, Orange Mead and Blackberry Mead in along with recipes for cakes and other things they made. I'd have to type them out but if you're interested let me know and when my head isn't so fuzzy hopefully next week I'll sort them out and pm them to you. There's some good mead making information here
http://www.stormthecastle.com/mead/index.htm which may be of some use? Going to wander off an get some work done now, hoping for another NSD today fingers crossed.

Glad you're feeling more positive Herby sounds like you're keeping busy. How do you think your dragon and my heffalump will get on at Stonehenge? I don't want any more vet's bills. Singed tails are painful to heffalumps...

Hi Ashamed, very astute with the telly... Have you seen Freecycle? works on a similar basis. Amazing what you can get on there.

No I'm not going to the picnic, sounds a bit too earnest and sandal wearing for me but I thought it may interest somebody. Besides, I'm still hobbling round on crutches at the mo, the thought of trying to get up off of the ground after a picnic brings to mind thoughts of my heffalump trying to get into her fuchsia pink tutu and such other graceful (not) moments.

I've got to go shopping today otherwise dinner will be something very interesting like tuna steak with rice pudding jus. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Have a good one all

Yesterday was NSD no 2 for me :j. Today is not going to be one, and it's unlikely that the weekend will be, so my next ones should be next week. I'll aim for 3 next week.

    Have a good weekend everyone!

Hi moneypenny, I was feeling a little better and trying to get back to business, then the postman came with a card addressed to me and DH, it was a deepest sympathy card from the vet staff, it both touched me as never had that happen before from any vet and made me weep buckets cos I'm missing Pye. I've cried so much the past few days we've run out of tissues  So I may have to relinquish the NSD I've achieved so far to buy some more.

Has anyone else found that they're okay when they loose their little buddy if they don't verbally talk about him/her to others or is it just me? I can think and I can type thoughts about him, but as soon as I begin talking about him I start crying again. It'll get better I know, I can't help being me but I hate being irrational and teary.

Going to go and try and meal plan for this coming week, aiming for 4 NSD's this week so want to make sure I have everything in before I go shopping. Thanks for the support peeps it's nice to know others understand, much appreciated.
