Sadly another Spend day for me yesterday (Thursday). Daughters eye test...new glasses required...with nhs voucher only a tenner but also paid £39 to have new the new lenses fitted into her old frames so she has two pairs of glasses (she always manages to misplace one pair so its good to have a spare).

Couldn't resist popping into the charity shops whilst we were in town, picked up a loose bottomed cake tin for £2.40 (I'm baking more than I've ever done in an attempt to keep the grocery bill down and I dont have a 'proper' cake tin) and this cookbook for £2.25 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cooks-Book-Step-step-Techniques/dp/1405303379

Today (Friday) WILL be a no spend day!!

Another NSD for me today. NSD No. 3. Work is so busy at the moment that I hardly have time to read all the posts. It's fantastic to see how many people are aiming towards NSDs and generally spending less. :j Spoon, well done for sticking to your grocery list. There are so many goodies to tempt us in the supermarket so you did brilliantly to stay away from temptation. Keep up the great work everybody.

Come on Geebee, tell me - did it work???

Well..... almost... I was really busy with work yesterday and was doing really well, but it was such a lovely day i decided to have a Barbeque, which of course meant needing fresh crusty bread, and i just didnt have time to bake any... so yet again.. another SPEND day, but today, i just KNOW i'm gonna do well. :D

Watch this space, as they say! :rotfl:

Well done to everyone who had NSD's, and to those who didnt quite manage it, theres always today. Good luck everyone!

there is an excellent wee wooly shop on the south end of the High Street at Portobello, does lovely wool and lots of packages, pattern and wool deals. if your stoating around that area worth a visit!!

Didn't manage one to-day, had a piece of cake cos I was fed up and having not a great day, sorry[/QUOTE

Thanks PDD - I actually live in Portobello and I know exactly the shop you mean! I do use it sometimes, but I mainly use one in Musselburgh, which is nearby. The two women that run it are so lovely and helpful, yesterday they spent ages helping me find just the "right" button. All that time for just a sale of 26p! Needless to say I ended up buying a pattern and wool for a baby cardi and hat. With their encouragement, Im attempting one with a wee holey pattern ( so far so good):j
Spoon - cardi stitched up and the bonus is - it fits!;)
I'll gladly post a pic if someone would be kind enough to tell me how to do it!

So yesterday was a spendy( low though) and today will be too as I'm meeting an old pal for lunch. We're going to my fave Chinese and Im really looking forward to catching up as Ive not seen her for ages.

Tomorrow should be ok as Im doing a charity collection for the RSPB in the morning and no plans for the afternoon. Sunday ,Im hoping to get some plants for the garden and get them in if its nice weather.

Hope you all have a great day :)

Don't forget the night out in Leeds drinking cider in our PJ's up the alley with the chav girls that live by me!!!!
Like that idea Nargle, floating around Stonehenge in a druid costume drinking katenut's home brewed honey mead sounds good to me, although moneypenny's purple heffalump might cause a few problems:rotfl:. Pig roast sounds good, although if the worst came to the worst we could spit roast a troll as a sacrifice:rotfl:

No chafing involved with druid costumes, pdd, so you should be OK with that....

We've also got the night out in Leeds to look forward to (thanks for putting us up BDINI) and I think Nottoobadyet inadvertently invited us to her housewarming in London, near Camden Lock... apparently we can all get inappropriate piercings very cheaply ....

Seems as though we have a busy month ahead of us - never mind all the birthdays coming along as well:rotfl::rotfl:

Get your diaries booked up now, NSD-ers:j:j

Cor blimey, I'd forgotten about our trip to Leeds to see BDINI's chavs in the alley!! And a trip to London - I've never been to London before!! How are we gonna fit it all in?!

Today will be a spend day as we have no food whatsoever in the house for tea (we have stuff that I'd eat but DH and DS-S are more fussy!) so need to go shopping after work. Hoping for a very low spend weekend though, not going out so we should be OK if I get everything we need tonight :)
Trying to jump back onto the moneysaving wagon ....

Morning peeps, just checking in to report my NSD yesterday taking my total up to 4 now, still got 24 days to go to the end of my budget so I should manage 14 easily. Still feeling a little raw and teary but I'm trying to remember all the fun times but boy do I miss the furry faced cuddles. Moving swiftly on before I start blubbing again....

Stonehenge sounds fun, my dragon is up for the trip and I think I can rustle up a star child hippy outfit without too many problems, although I'm notifying you all now that I'm not a candidate for a virgin sacrifice :rotfl:

Katenut I have an old handwritten journal that belonged to DH's grandparents it has some old honey mead recipes such as Peach Mead, Orange Mead and Blackberry Mead in along with recipes for cakes and other things they made. I'd have to type them out but if you're interested let me know and when my head isn't so fuzzy hopefully next week I'll sort them out and pm them to you. There's some good mead making information here
http://www.stormthecastle.com/mead/index.htm which may be of some use? Going to wander off an get some work done now, hoping for another NSD today fingers crossed.

I'm hoping today will be a NSD (if not, a LSD).
I do need to post some ebay parcels but don't count them as they're paid for by someone else.

Tomorrow is food shopping day and petrol day (if I can't eek it out anymore) so will be a spend day but I don't count those as they come of the appropriate budgets, so if I can not spend anything else it may be a NSD IYSWIM!
