Allow myself one spending day per weekend to do my food shop. Really want to move it to today as I could do with picking up some stuff on the way home, but that does mean a no spend entire weekend!!!! I'm going to give it a shot. But I may be a gibbering wreck by Monday!!!

Oh how I wish I had a bath and not a shower for some free pampering time!!!

    Oh forgot to say

Herby . . . so sorry for your loss. The pain is indescribable I know. And yes, you think you are coping, and then someone is nice enough to ask about it and you go to pieces again!

Hi moneypenny, I was feeling a little better and trying to get back to business, then the postman came with a card addressed to me and DH, it was a deepest sympathy card from the vet staff, it both touched me as never had that happen before from any vet and made me weep buckets cos I'm missing Pye. I've cried so much the past few days we've run out of tissues  So I may have to relinquish the NSD I've achieved so far to buy some more.

Has anyone else found that they're okay when they loose their little buddy if they don't verbally talk about him/her to others or is it just me? I can think and I can type thoughts about him, but as soon as I begin talking about him I start crying again. It'll get better I know, I can't help being me but I hate being irrational and teary.

Going to go and try and meal plan for this coming week, aiming for 4 NSD's this week so want to make sure I have everything in before I go shopping. Thanks for the support peeps it's nice to know others understand, much appreciated.

    Hi Herby

Yes I find I 'tear up' as the kids put it when talking about emotional things. Crikey I can even do it for a sad storyline in Enders lol

I'll never forget when I'd had to take my aunt's dog in to the vet. My aunt was in her 80s back then and she'd had the dog for about 15 years and I knew poor old Rebel was on his last legs. My dad had bought him just a year or so before he died, my aunt took him on as I'm not a dog person.

Anyhow, I digress, Poor old Rebel was very old, he was deaf, blind and according to the vet his organs were shutting down, so as my aunt was in hospital, it fell to me to take him to the vet. I cried buckets. but the worst thing for me was when the vet handed his collar and lead back to me and patted me on the shoulder. Boy, I'm tearing up even now and I'm going back over 10 years. So yes Herbie. I can understand totally.

Mind you having said that, it seems you have a very thoughtful and kindly vet.

Today definately wasn't a no spend day for me. Overspent in Tesco and when I got home I found that they'd overcharged me. Hmmm email time methinks.

I am so happy with myself, firstly OH car passed it's M.O.T. so no extras to pay out for and since an M.O.T. is essential I am not counting it as a spend, secondly, I didn't give into my sons demands for McDonalds after we picked up the car and thirdly, tonight we are having a BBQ with leftover sausages, burgers and rolls that I saved in the freezer from our last BBQ. So I'm happy to declare today is NSD # 4 for me :j:j:j.

Have a lovely weekend everyone .

There is nothing irrational about getting teary, I think we all know how you feel Herby. We lost (in the true sense of the word :() our aged dog on February, and I still cry when people ask about her, or I'm in a situation or place where she would normally have been with me. I work in a vets and we send sympathy cards out when we think it is appropriate, I've often wondered if they help people or if they upset people at an already difficult time.

Thanks for the link about mead as well - I'm a bit new to this homebrewing malarkey but I'll give it a go sometime! :)

Nearly finished work for the weekend, have a good un everyone! xx

Our beloved doggles died nearly 4 years ago and I still snivel if anyone mentions him, his ashes are buried in the garden and I change the flowers that grow there regularly cos he loved to lie in the sun on that spot. So you are certainly not alone Herby, I would say you are just normal!!!

No NSD for me to-day, did shopping to save myself from a lynching from a hungary family but did come in well below budget, so not too bad, and people will eat, its very annoying!!!

I decided I was not going to the shop today and despite having no fruit we survived! I really felt like I should go just in case for quite a while....just shows how much it's habit!
Anyway I'm really pleased :) - I was feeling a bit left behind!

Lots of cash departed from my bank account today, but it was expected. At least my car is back in action, and I am 99.99% certain that Sunday will be my next NSD. Next week I am on annual leave so I will work out a cunning plan to limit spending to the absolute minimum by being creative with the contents of my freezer and cupboards. I must, I must, I must have 12 NSDs this month!

Well, Stonehenge, chavvy cider bash in Leeds, and piercings party in London....which one comes first?

Must admit the Battersea Picnic sounded a bit "open-toe sandals and knit your own muesli" to me, too, but it probably is a fabulous idea, if enough people make an effort to do it.
