    I beg to differ.
My business partner and I both have iPhone4 for business use. We are both experiencing problems with calls dropping and we are both having very frustrating problems with the BT connection to our car kits. I know that many other are having the same problems.
I don't think the dropped call problem is due to a weak signal or antenna - I think its a software issue in the phone.

To be honest the reception in this phone is far better than my Prior Sony Xperia X1. I do see the hand of death effect but it's not enough to drop calls.

The topology of where I live meant I could not make calls on the x1 on the ground floor, with the I4 I can. As far as I cna tell it's a better radio than the X1 and I've no seen any issues other than the occasion dropped call whne I leave network coverage (and I know they are blackspots from past times)
  • If you are still experiencing issues with the iPhone 4, take it back and ask Apple to replace it again. I know it's no comfort, but you could have been unlucky enough to have both received phones (and a replacement) from a "bad batch".

I bought my nephew a brand new ipod (can't remember what sort) cost me £150. It worked when we switched it on. It didn't work at all when we tried to use it e.g. download. My nephew was distraught as he knew it was so expensive. I took it back the next stay and they ran a diagnostic on it in the shop - it was faulty. The guy said that Apple accept that a %ge of their products are faulty as they'd rather replace them than spend too much on excessive quality checking so this could apply to iphones too in that there could be bad batches. It was a pain taking it back but it was worth it.

I don't think Apple are alone in their acceptance of a certain percentage of faulty equipment, but their replacement policy is one of the best in the market. If you have a phone that develops a fault, I'd far rather it was an Apple product than an Acer!!!
In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and was widely regarded as a bad move.

  • I think what you need to do is look at the level of wireless security you have on the router. Do you remember the network address for your router? It's the "192.168.x.x" number, then you have to type in a user name (usually ADMIN) and a password - just like you did with the password change.

Go back to the area where the password is. There should be something there where you can select between different security options such as WEP or WPA-PSK. What you need to do is prove that the security level is the one causing the issue, so if there's an option there for "no security" or something similar, select that. Save the changes and exit.

You should now be able to connect any wireless device without the need for any form of password, so check that the iPhone will now connect ok. The problem is that everyone else can also connect to your network which is not a good thing if you are doing your banking and a hacker can watch you put in your account details!!

Go back in to the router (same thing again with the address and the passwords) and turn the security back on. Select WPA-PSK or WPA if available on your router and then enter a password. Use the same one as before if you want, but I suggest you go for a different one.

Save the changes and exit, then try to connect the iPhone again. If it will, great. If not, go back in and select a different security level. If you go to WEP, then it will give you a selection of pre-formatted hexedecimal passwords, so just select one of those.

One thing to remember is that because you have changed the security, the laptop you connect sometimes will need to be told the correct password.

Hi Sparkzs. They confirmed this earlier in the thread - they can connect in things like McDonalds.

This was exactly what was needed to fix it. It now works with Enable WPA - Personal Wireless Security Enhanced. All 3 iphones and the Itouch now work so everyone is very happy. Thanks very much.

Has anyone had a recent experience of buying an iphone in one of the Apple shops? They are telling me people are still queuing from midnight to get them.

    what are you asking?
if they are telling lies or whether you should queue?

Bit of both really, just to see if anyone has queued recently, and whether they had to arrive at midnight in order to get one. I was just surprised to hear there are queues outside the stores every morning.

I am aware it will depend on the individual stores and I have been asking around the London stores.
  • i got my free case from apple yesterday and in all honesty i prefer the one that cost me £3 from amazon.....i just wasted my 7th screen protector too i can't get it to stick in all 4 corners it always comes up in 1 i think i should give up!

  • Might be a silly question to all you seasoned iphone owners but how do you multi task on it? I can only get from one thing to another by pressing the home button. I thought multi task would mean I can switch easily and still have things left where I was when I wnet back. Thanks.
