    So just a quick comparison between the rumoured Tesco tariff and the O2 Simplicity on a 32GB iPhone 4:

    Tesco:

    £20 a month for 12 months
    250 minutes, Unlimited text
    1GB data
    Handset price (32GB) = £429
    Total over 12 months = £669

    O2:

    £15 a month for 12 months
    300 minutes, Unlimited texts
    500MB data
    Handset price (32GB) = £600 from Apple
    Total over 12 months = £780

    If the rumoured Tesco tariff is genuinely true, I'll be inclined to go with them. Twice the data allowance of O2, and a saving of £111 over the 12 months (albeit with 50 less minutes than the O2 tariff, but I don't use many minutes at all)

    All very pleasant. Was a bit surprised that they didn't try anything stronger to try to keep me.

    At the very least, they probably have logged that another long-term customer wants iPhone4 but not with Orange due to pricing.

    The more people that ring them, perhaps the more likely they will adjust their prices.

    Unfortunately customer profitability holds more weight to the phone companies than how long you have been with them.

    i.e. Two contract customers who are on 300min inclusive mins with unlimited text

    Customer A uses on average 100 min/month and sends only 50 texts

    Customer B uses just below 300 min/month and sends more a 1000 texts per month

    Which customer do you think the mobile company will fight to keep (i.e. better retention offers) and which do you think they will give a PAC code no questions asked.

    Hi Jon. Tesco haven't updated their website yet with the pricing details. We've been assured by the PR that the pricing is correct and will be put online soon.

    From http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/news/index.cfm?newsId=3227894

    They look to be quoting the same prices.

    Over 12 months, the 750 minute tariff is only £50 more expensive than the 250 minute tariff, with a 32GB iPhone included.

    £20 a month for 12 months = £240
    250 mins, unlimited texts, 1GB data
    32GB handset = £429
    Total = £669

    £35 a month for 12 months = £420
    750 mins, unlimited text
    1GB data
    32GB handset = £299
    Total = £719

    I'd probably go for the 750 minute tariff, I'd probably never use that much bar the odd month or two, but for £50 over the year, I reckon it's worth having the extra 500 minutes a month.

    Well spotted. WOuld be nice if it was 249. Might be a typo though. Hope Tesco update their site soon then we can be sure.
  • As I posted on Monday the prices quoted for the £35 amonth are the exact ones I saw in print by salesman in Tesco phone shop. On Tuesday the same salesman told me verbally the price for the £45 tariff was £20 for handset on 16 gb. All other info is the same I either saw or was told. However on Monday he said they weren't selling the PAYG. Don't know if he meant for now or never.

    I'm planning to go there in my lunchtime so if what I saw in print is incorrect on the £35 16gb I'll be :mad: Wish me luck.

    ps he gave phone number to ring before I came to make sure they still had stock.
