Just got off the phone to the RUDEST customer services operator at Orange. Rang to request my PAC code. (I am considering moving to the £35 vodafone contract, and I though I'd test the water with them to see what they can offer)
He asked why, I said cos Voda are offering what I want cheaper: conversation then went like this
Orange: No they are not
Me: yes they are
Orange: So you're telling me that Voda are offering better tariffs than us, all the networks are offering the same tariff
Me: No they aren't, Voda are offering a £35 tariff with enough bells and whistles for me and the handset is £60 cheaper
Orange: I think you'll find it isn't. We are offering it for £119.
Me: yes, over 24 months, not 18 which is what I want. I'm not lying about this, your tone is terrible. I'm only asking for a PAC code. Trust me I've done lots of research on this.
Orange: Well I'm not lying either but as you have no reason to lie to us I will send you your PAC code. Be aware though you will be billed by us until that number is transfered
Me: Yes I'm aware of that. I would like to stay with Orange but there are simply better prices out there (hint, hint)
Orange: Well I'm sure that isn't the case but as I've said I have no reason to say you are lying. Your PAC code will arrrive shortly. Rememebr though, you will be billed by us until you transfer.
Me: Yes I know, bye!
How rude, honestly, it doesn't transcribe well here but he was so agressive. Deffo bye bye Orange now!..!0 -

Well, I wonder if asking to cancel my contract rather than a PAC code would've got a better response.
I think I will wait til saturday when my contract is actually up and ring again. they are IDIOTS.
Those Tesco prices haven't been confirmed by Tesco yet have they? Don't reckon they go on the spreadsheet until they have been. The link is here though, I've saved it in my favourites for when it gets updates

Waiting to see it on the tesco site, but numerous outlets are reporting the same thing now so looks like it must be right.
If they are all spread to 24 mths Vodafone and the £20 tesco deal both come out at £909 over life of contract. Tempted with the tesco as it has better mins and txts, plus can change after 12 months if wanted0 -
thanks dusty-yes i think you should ring back and say youre actually leaving you might get a better csr to talk to
thanks for the link oh yes i suppose it cant be put on there yet as hasnt been confirmedWhat goes around-comes around0 -

Thought I'd find out what response I got, since I'm pay as you go with Orange for nearly 10 years...
First off, looked up their PAC code info on their website (HERE) and rang 145 - click didn't connect. So tried 07973-100-145. Same thing. Next tried the number for pay-monthly, 07973-100-150. Press 1 for mobile queries, entered phone number. Now what on earth was my 4 digit security code? Put in what I thought....click hang up. Ring again. This time not enter any security code and just hung on hold...finally Deepak answered....
He asked what I wanted to do, and I said get a PAC code. Okay he said, have to transfer me to the PAC team. Okay I say. Before he did that, asked me why I was thinking of leaving. Said because I was thinking of taking up iPhone4 offer from Vodafone. Okay. Over to the PAC team...
Margo in the PAC team asked why I wanted to leave. Said I was thinking of moving to iPhone4 with Tesco or Vodafone as they have some good deals. She asked if I had seen the Orange deals. Yes I said, and the others appear to offer better value. Okay she said, I will arrange a PAC code to be sent out to you in 2 days, please give me your address details...which I did. She said that I must use up any PAYG credit before transfer; fair enough I said. Goodbye.
All very pleasant. Was a bit surprised that they didn't try anything stronger to try to keep me.
At the very least, they probably have logged that another long-term customer wants iPhone4 but not with Orange due to pricing.
The more people that ring them, perhaps the more likely they will adjust their prices.
No loss for me doing this, for if I decide in the end to stay with Orange, then the PAC code just quietly expires on 23 July. So, I now have it as an insurance policy in case I do go to Tesco or Vodafone.

Can numbers be ported to a different provider after a week or so, or does it have to be done imediately? Just thinking if i changed from my contract to another provider it would take a while for them cancel, have to give 30 days. Haven't yet as didn't know if i would be leaving or not0

We’re working with Apple to understand what will be available when so that we can keep you informed.
I take this line as saying that Three have no physical stock at present and no agreement with Apple on how much is being delivered. Not good and not happy.0
