It seems she is unable to follow instruction...
As for Drivers... go to this page, add your Service Tag or select your model and Operating System(XP or MCE). You'll be presented with a list of around 12 down pointing arrows. Click on the first and select: Add To Download List for each entry. When completed, click on the arrow again to minimise it and move to the next one down. Continue this way until the Download button near the top right portion of the page shows 71 Items(or thereabouts) selected.
Click on that Download button, Download & Create an ISO and then Open and allow the application to install.
Yes, how is your Broadband connected to your laptop?
Sorry, once again for driving you all nuts but this isn't very easy for me, even with instructions I am having to go back and forth checking what to do all the time. I am doing my best with this honestly, it's just finding where everything is and getting it opened etc takes me a while.
I have now managed to access WinRAR, the problem was that my internet connection kept giving me that it couldn't connect to that site or else it timed out.
Checked as ailEnRIK suggested and yes the data is saved on the discs. I tried them and they opened up with list of all drivers and the wee symbols beside them.
Broadband is connected by wireless router. I also have the ethrnet(?) yellow cable if necessary, that's if that is required, don't really know.0 -
Donnie in your pm, you offered some help with using WinRAR. If anyone else can help I would appreciate it.
I have downloaded WinRAR.
I have to right click on the download .rar file and choose Extract Here.
Problem is I don't know where these are as I can't see them listed on the WinRAR download.
I'm probably doing something stupid again!!!!0 -
Did you download a .rar file from Donnie that is a Windows MCE installation disc?604!0

Have you installed winrar, the exe?!!

Okay, yes finally got WinRar! Managed to get the the MCE file transferred to winrar.
Didn't have a clue what the .rar file was, silly me I had been looking for that within the winrar download!
Just burning the disc just now to Imgburn. Do I check that I have copied this disc properly the same as before, think it was go to my computer and open?
Check of list of discs I now have:
2 x dell drivers (some drivers on 1 & remainder on other)
DSRFIX
MCE file from WinRar (once I check it works)
plus
External hard drive with all my documents, pics, etc on it.
Should add I used the "write image file to disc" selection in ImgBurn is that correct?0 -
Now that you've managed to backup your data, download and burn drivers to CD and download/burn MCE installation disc to CD all that you need to do now is boot to MCE CD, install Windows, install drivers, install AV, set up internet connection, update Windows, update AV, configure email account and you should be good to go.

Oh .......... I'll be here in 5 years time:rotfl:
How do I check if the contents of the MCE are on the cd. I'd like to be 100% sure before proceeding? As I thought once further back that I had copied relevant information onto the cd and I hadn't:(:(0 -
Stick the CD back in and see what's on it.604!0
